Ewing sarcoma is an aggressive childhood cancer that is particularly difficult to treat. The lack of progress has been linked, in part, to the challenges in developing drugs to block the activity of a fusion protein (EWS-FLI1) that is responsible for most Ewing sarcoma tumors. Last year, however, two independent research groups reported that a protein called ETV6 also appears to play a critical role in Ewing sarcoma. The finding could lead to the development of new approaches for treating the disease. #SarcomaAwareness https://go.nih.gov/2WQLMH3
