So-called personality hires have become a popular topic on social media, defined in a new survey by job site Monster as "employees who may have been hired for their personality, values, and approach to work, rather than just their technical skills." And it seems the concept has generalized among professionals too: 48 percent of 1,500 workers surveyed self-identified as personality hires. #talentacquistion #newhires #culture #Employeeforward Ethan Chazin, MBAShireen HilalSimone Sloan, Rph , MBAEric Sarver, Esq.

Have you heard of the “Great Gloom”? Job satisfaction has been on the decline since 2020… You might assume that a certain pandemic would be to blame, but actually, the most drastic dip has happened in the past year from June 2022 to June 2023. In fact, happiness is worse now than at the height of the pandemic. This shift towards the “Great Gloom” (spiritual successor to the Great Resignation) might be because of the shift to remote work, lack of promotion opportunities, and rising inflation. The industries with the overall lowest average happiness are: ⚫️ Healthcare ⚫️ Education ⚫️ Hospitality ⚫️ Nonprofit ⚫️ And, increasingly – Finance and Technology (Construction is currently the happiest industry!) Companies have to be proactive and adaptive to address the growing unhappiness in the workforce. Leaders can use work managers to help discuss clear goals, provide recognition, and have meaningful conversations with employees on a weekly basis. Keeping employees engaged and invested in their work is a great way to combat the gloom. What do you think about this trend? Do you have any plans in place to address employee unhappiness? Let us know in the comments! #MyHR #MyHRDepartment #HRStrategy #HR2023 #Hiring #EmploymentLaw #DEIA #Talent #EmployeeSatisfaction #EmployeeHappiness

Return-to-office initiatives have received backlash from workers who prefer a more hybrid schedule—and you might be interested to know that fully remote work tends to elicit a similar response. Many employees are opting to look for new work rather than returning fully to the office. Meanwhile, job listings that are fully remote (rather than hybrid) are getting fewer clicks than they did earlier in the year. What we’re seeing here is that workers are highly favoring a flexible hybrid schedule where they can work from home but come to the office when they need or want to. Even if it’s one or two days a week, workers are looking for that schedule flexibility. #MyHR #MyHRDepartment #HRStrategy #HR2023 #Hiring #EmploymentLaw #Compliance #WFH #HybridWork #ReturnToOffice
