This is the latest edition of our “People Behind the Product” series, which spotlights the incredible people who shape our diverse #MeyerSound team around the world. Meet Design Services Supervisor Alex Harbaugh! Alex has been a key member of our Design Services team, designing systems with MAPP 3D and providing support for our customers all over the world. We asked Alex a few questions to learn more about both his work and his life outside of Meyer Sound. Question: What is your favorite Meyer Sound memory? Answer: My first year at Meyer Sound, one day there were signs all over our building warning of “extreme high SPL” testing, simulating rocket launches after hours, and that was no joke! I stayed late that day to experience a bit of that, and those kinds of activities around the factory keep reminding me of the special place we’re at. Q: What was your first job? A: I was a Sonic Drive-in Carhop. Yes, I wore the skates. Q: What book is on your bedside table? A: I’m currently reading “Acceptance” from Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach trilogy. Q: What is an achievement you are proud of? A: I’m proud of getting the note, “No notes.” Q: What is your favorite gift you’ve given someone? A: I designed custom Lego sets of our Bluehorn for the tech support team a few years ago Q: Sweet or savory? A: I prefer savory. Q: Do you have any pets? A: I have one blind cat named Romulus. Q: What’s one thing people don’t know about you? A: I have a really good string vibrato – my father is an orchestra teacher and I’ve played string instruments my entire life.

Avnu Alliance has announced a new ethernet switch certification designed to enhance and streamline certification processes.    The new program supports certification for devices according to the IEEE’s SA’s 802.1.BA profile for Audio Video Bridging (AVB) as part of the IEEE Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), which is a group of IEEE 802.1 standards. This summer, Meyer Sound returned to Denmark as the exclusive sound provider for the Roskilde Festival, Northern Europe’s largest and longest-running music and arts festival. Held from June 29 to July 6, this year’s event showcased 200 shows on seven stages, all powered exclusively by Meyer Sound systems, provided by Denmark-based integrator Victory Event Stage & Tour ApS. Performers ranged from headliners like Foo Fighters, Doja Cat, 21 Savage, SZA, and Skrillex to emerging artists from around the globe. Black Oak Ranch recently hosted Ten Mile Creek Revival, a family-friendly festival with music, activities, vendors, and a vibrant community. As the Official Sound Partner of the festival, our solutions, including a LEOPARD compact linear line array loudspeaker system provided by UltraSound LLC, elevated the audio experience for attendees and helped create an unforgettable experience. "It was hands down the best sounding festival we’ve ever had at Black Oak Ranch," said the festival's founder and producer, Biasha Mitchell. "All the way down to the creek at the southern part of the campground." The relationship between #MeyerSound, Black Oak Ranch, and UltraSound goes back decades: when the Grateful Dead’s Jerry Garcia helped raise the initial down payment for Black Oak Ranch in 1987, playing the Electric on the Eel concert, it was Meyer Sound who provided the loudspeakers. The Ranch is owned by the Hog Farm, one of the longest-running communes in the US.

H.A.S. Productions, Inc. is a staple in the Las Vegas audio market, and the deployment of their PANTHER large-format linear line array loudspeaker system at The Star of the Desert Arena at Buffalo Bill’s Casino Resort in Primm, NV, elevates the experience for headlining concerts along with sports, including boxing and rodeo. The arena’s #MeyerSound system features our PANTHER loudspeakers, 1100-LFC low-frequency control elements, ULTRA-X20 compact wide coverage loudspeakers, and Galileo GALAXY Network Platforms. The upcoming schedule for the venue includes big names such as Patti LaBelle, Flo Rida, and ZZ Top.

The final weekend is approaching at this year's edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival, and the new main Lake Stage has been a huge hit for festival goers. #MeyerSound is the Official Sound Partner of the festival, and the main stage overlooking Lake Geneva is powered by the perfect pairing of our PANTHER large format linear line array loudspeakers and 2100-LFC low-frequency control elements, provided by Skynight SA.    “It’s just a huge studio monitor,” said MJF’s Audio Coordinator Martin Reich about the PANTHER and 2100-LFC system. “The precision and transparency of that system is so unbelievable. And the subs, the 2100-LFCs, are adding this precision down to 30 Hz. Now that we're outside and we can hear the system without the room reflections it's even more impressive how precise it is.”   Performances by Michael Kiwanuka, Jungle, Soft Cell, and Duran Duran will bring the festival to a close on the Lake Stage this weekend, with many more fantastic shows on all 16 other stages including the Casino Stage.   Photo credit: Ralph Larmann
