Lighthouse for the Blind is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a socio-economic mission to provide employment and support services for adults and children who are legally blind. The Lighthouse manufactures, fills, and packages a diverse line of products for the U.S. Government and commercial customers. the Lighthouse holds government contracts covering over 200 products. Our product mix includes Aerosol Cleaners, Bio-based Cleaners, Liquid Cleaners, Office Cleaners, Maintenance Products, Repellent, Paints and Coatings, and large-scale Medical first aid kits. Our customers include Defense Logistics Agency, the United States Army Medical Materiel Agency (USAMMA), General Services Administration (GSA), the U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Postal Service. We have extensive lab facilities, and to our knowledge, we are the only aerosol manufacturing facility in the world operated primarily by blind individuals. To broaden our customer base and provide additional employment opportunities to the blind community, the Lighthouse initiated a strategy to acquire assets of commercial companies. Between 2014 and 2018, the Lighthouse acquired four commercial brands – Quake Kare®, Tear Mender®, RapidFix®, and Badge Magic®/CosBond®. Proceeds from product sales contribute to 23 community outreach programs that provide assistance and support to children and adults who are visually impaired in Missouri and Western Illinois. Our “See the Future” outreach programs assist students in the areas of technology adaptations, activities of daily living skill development, scholarships to educational and recreational camps including Camp Barnabas in Purdy, MO, and Space Camp in Huntsville, AL, and a mobile low vision clinic for children.

The U.S. Forest Service protects over 193 million acres of national forests and grasslands for all to enjoy. We're proud to have hosted their annual meeting this year and supply the tree marking paint that helps them sustainably manage these public lands. When you're out enjoying a hike in one of America's beautiful forests, look for the bright colors dotting the trees - each one has a purpose in ensuring these forests last for generations. #usfs2024 #publiclands #conservation

March 8th 2024 is National Biobased Product Day! This day was created in an effort to bring awareness to businesses that provide biobased products. The fight against climate change has been an ongoing effort, and we can make a positive impact with every purchase decision we make. This day is being celebrated to educate others on the importance of sustainable development in the marketplace and how we can contribute to reducing the negative impacts of plastic production. The more consumers who know about businesses that sell ecofriendly products, the better chance we have at saving the planet from toxic waste and pollution. Supporting National Biobased Product Day helps promote sustainability and educates consumers to make informed purchase decisions for ecofriendly products over alternative, non-renewable products. We encourage you to be a part of the growing change and take charge of your purchasing power with products you can feel good about. Take part in National Biobased Product Day by supporting businesses that are eco-minded and always consider ecofriendly product alternatives. Every biobased product brings us that much closer to a brighter future. Learn more about our biobased products: https://lnkd.in/dNtvVWj3
