I’ve been attending a leadership course, Leadership Coachella Valley over the past few months. Each session is informative and aims to educate those in the program to better understand the issues and impacts thereof in our valley. Prepared with this information, we (program participants) can become better, more informed leaders in our communities today and in the future. Today, session 6, was all about mayors, legal systems, resources for victims of crimes, fire and border patrol. Leadership is present and thriving in this group and in the Coachella Valley and I can’t wait for the next sessions 🙏 #leadershipdevelopment #hobbies #interests #professionaldevelopment #communitydevelopment #communityengagement #communityempowerment #citymanagement #california #leaders

We spy some impactful LCV grads!
Full house at yesterday's California Special Districts Association break out session "How to Build Community Equity through Events". My co-panelists (Tara Bravo with CV Strategies, Inc. and Joshua Bonner with Coachella Valley Public Cemetary District) and I enjoyed sharing the importance of building community equity for the people you serve. Fostering goodwill with your community/rate payers is not just critically important during the good times, but it's also a form of preemptive crisis management. Thank you to the audience for being incredibly engaged and making this an absolute pleasure to present on behalf of Coachella Valley Water District. #YourWaterisOurPromise #WomenInWater

Our LCV Classmate Ryan Hunt, CPC is already showing outstanding leadership & crisis management communications. Cathedral City has been in the national news for the extensive damage brought on by Hurricane Hilary and the communication has been strong, as well as the community support!
I'm so incredibly proud of our City staff and leadership for the response to Tropical Storm Hilary. After helping to oversee communications in City of Arlington, TX during the unprecedented Feb. 2021 winter storm, I hoped I'd never be in that position again. But while every crisis is different, I am grateful for the experience that has allowed me to help this amazing community during a truly historic weather event for our desert cities. City of Cathedral City is a special place and while our staff is lean, we make up for it with our knowledge, tireless work ethic, integrity and compassion. From Public Works crews working all night to clear several feet of mud off the roads so neighbors can leave their homes to truly heroic rescue and evacuation efforts by Cathedral City Fire Department and Cathedral City Police, the civil servant heart is on the sleeve of every employee I've encountered. And our residents are just as kind and strong. Neighbors helping neighbors, agencies, neighboring cities and organizations answering the call for help, it's truly been remarkable to watch. There's also still a lot of pain. Some don't know what comes next. But I can assure you this: We're in this together. We’re here to help. And the nation's eyes have seen our city’s resiliency, love, and ability to come together in the face of tragedy. 🧡

MEET THE BOARD is back! Today we're featuring one of our newest LCV Board Members: Nicole Trigg. Nicole is a wife to a Greek and attempts to be the most intentional mother to three littles. She communicates in florals, has a passion for elevating local business, and is a natural connector in the Coachella Valley. Her intention is to create value and leave the ones she’s with better off than how she found them. Whether that’s new relationships that are new to the area and just need a little connection, being fully present and creating memories with her family, creating Language Arrangements for someone who just lost a loved one, or being vulnerable with her mistakes and learning opportunities to fellow entrepreneurs, so they don’t have to learn the hard way. She is an LCV (Longest Class Ever ‘19-21’) Alumni and attributes so much of her growth + devotion to bringing awareness of how rare + special our Valley is because of it. Be sure to check out her business: Botanical Verbiage & send her your congratulatory messages below! #leadership #boardofdirectors #LCV #bestclassever — with Botanical Verbiage in La Quinta, CA.
