Hospitality Management Company with Boutique Hotels in New England, California and Beyond

About us

Boutique hotel management is Lark’s specialty. Lark hotels embrace the locations they are in — but in playful, unexpected ways. Think “sense of place” with imagination and a touch of mischief. We invite our guests to experience modern luxury in the heart of iconic destinations, to feel the pull of a nostalgic getaway while surrounded by today’s amenities and to find attentive service when they want it and privacy when they don’t. Initially we grew in coastal cities and resort destinations in the northeast of the United States through both management contracts and select joint venture partnerships. We are now moving into other iconic locations across the United States. By leveraging the success of our existing collection of design driven boutique properties in iconic locations we will replicate this model consistently, but with a nod to each property’s individuality. Central to Lark’s success as managers and developers is our core team of hospitality, design and marketing veterans. With experience working with properties from 9-99 rooms, our team has worked together on many significant inn, hotel and resort projects throughout the United States.

In the Lark-Light this week is Maya Evans, Guest Service Supervisor at The Ellery Hotel in Northampton, MA! Maya joined the team in April 2023, initially in the role of Guest Service Associate. This was her first time working in hotels, but you would never be able to tell, as it did not take long for Maya to demonstrate her ability to perform her responsibilities with consistency, focus, organization, and dedication. Within six months, Maya took on a supervisory role, supporting and teaching others on the team at The Ellery Hotel. Beyond the day to day expectations of her role, Maya is continuously eager to learn and take on new challenges, all while showcasing a natural gift for hospitality, creating memorable experiences for every person she encounters. Maya is an integral part of The Ellery Hotel and is one of the countless reasons why guests love this charming Northampton retreat. hashtag #OnaLark

In the Lark-Light this week is Samantha Massie, Human Resources Generalist for us at Lark! Samantha joined our team in September 2023 after she and her husband made the move from Boston, where they had spent the last five years, to New Hampshire for a change of pace and scenery. Having worked for a hospitality management company previously, Samantha’s experience in multiple roles (as well as a true passion for the hotel industry) made Lark and the role of HR Generalist a natural fit for her. Within her role, Samantha supports HR administrative tasks for 25 properties. The importance of creating memorable experiences for our guests is paramount. That same drive is at the core of the journey we aim to create for our team members. Samantha, along with the rest of our HR team, are guided daily by this important responsibility, focusing on the humans that make the work we do possible. #OnaLark

In the Lark-Light this week is Tristan Centeno, Room Attendant at Blind Tiger Asheville in Asheville, NC! Like several other Lark-Light team members, Tristan shares the experience of having worked at the property prior to its future renovation and rebrand.  While his home property was undergoing renovations, he headed just down the parkway, and joined the Asheville River Cabins team in Arden, NC to bring his expertise and support to the location’s operations. His energy and passion for hospitality were apparent and felt immediately, radiating to his fellow team members and Asheville River Cabin's guests. Having worked in big box hotels previously, Tristan’s experience furthered his love of the boutique hotel experience, making him a perfect fit for our Blind Tiger crew! Tristan’s excellent eye for detail, and consistent drive to go above and beyond are some of the many reasons why he is vital part of the experience of our Blind Tiger Asheville guests and team– we couldn’t imagine it any other way. #OnaLark

I'm so proud of Shelby Gamm for spearheading Lark Hotels partnership with Free People. She took this all the way from an idea to a reality. It's a perfect brand partnership that really elevates both brands. So well done! Looking forward to seeing what's next.

Digital Content Manager at Lark Hotels

Not to be too sappy, but this partnership with Lark Hotels and Free People is the highlight of my career. (So far!) 🥹 In college, I worked at Anthropologie and have been obsessed with both brands since middle school. After a year in the making, this partnership will be brought to life regionally across three hotels impacting guest experience, revenue, digital awareness for both brands, and so much more. I will tell anyone who will listen, this is truly a DREAM come true bringing together both of my passions of fashion and travel. Incredibly thankful to our team at Block Island Beach House, (other hotels to come!), and my gals, CC Yearout and Kristin Dougherty for bringing this into being. Here’s to many more brand partnerships!!

I've had the pleasure of knowing and working with Richard Petronsky for years now, and was so happy when he joined us almost 2 years ago as the Facilities Manager at the Kennebunkport Captain's Collection. His skills are endless, and his work habits and ability to balance a complexity in role is always a shining example. Rich, thank you!

In the Lark Light this week is Richard Petronsky, Facilities Manager at the Kennebunkport Captain’s Collection and AWOL Kennebunkport in Maine. Rich joined our K-Port team in October 2022, and effectively transformed the way these properties operate by offering onsite expertise on all things maintenance. His ability to identify a facilities issue and remedy it, stems back to his long time experience in the fields of construction and maintenance. Everyone who has the opportunity to connect with Rich knows that his support doesn’t stop with HVAC or plumbing issues. He is someone who does not prescribe to the philosophy of “that’s not my job.” Quite the opposite. He will support any aspect of operations if it means the team is successful and the guest experience is memorable. As said best by Kristen Caouette, General Manager of our Kennebunkport properties, “At Kennebunkport Captains and AWOL Kennebunkport, Rich is our Geppetto. Bringing his expertise of the woodsman craft to resurrecting our historical properties, to the integral part of American history they deserve. We are so lucky to have him on our team.” #OnaLark

We are proud to announce the relaunch of The Hotel Portsmouth, now open following a full interior renovation led by Elder & Ash. We are beyond thankful for our General Manager Peter Melvin for his leadership throughout the renovation, our Portsmouth team and their tenacity to help us reopen on time, Pete Doucet II and Sean Donahue from Torrington Properties Inc. who managed the hotel's construction, and Read McKendree for capturing each and every detail of our completed renovation. The Hotel Portsmouth’s redesign combines modern sophistication with the warmth of traditional New England charm. Rich reds and blues form the foundational colors of the interiors, complimented by quintessential Americana patterns, lively geometrics and overt nods to maritime history. A myriad of patterns working together create a rich, layered experience that is comfortable yet spirited and feels collected while remaining polished, a design philosophy that evokes and a sense of familiarity. All 32 guest rooms also highlight photographs by American photographer Slim Aarons, alongside contemporary street art, historic original landscapes, and portrait paintings. Lucy & John's, an homage to the building's original owners, is a new lounge space and exclusive guest offering that is anchored by our expertly curated beer, wine and cocktail menu.
