Satellite IoT is expanding. Read now: https://lnkd.in/eNqDXm3J Satellite-enabled Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly emerging as a solution to IoT applications in the energy and agriculture markets. In 2023, the satellite IoT market boasted 8.4 million connections, with a market size exceeding $1.35B, with substantial growth potential. This #ConstellationsArticle from ABI Research explores the efficiencies and improvements that real time data collection and advanced analytics will bring to the world of satellite IoT. #satellite #agriculture #energy #IoT

The standardization of network APIs is putting network control directly into the hands of the satellite customer. APIs offer greater transparency and control for end users—and they also allow telcos and other network operators to give the end user network access, control, and configuration capabilities. APIs are quickly becoming big business for telecom companies, who can profit every time an API “call” occurs. New #ConstellationsArticle on tackling novel cyber threats: https://lnkd.in/edyVFPmB A new report asserts that cyberattacks are the most likely avenue for threat actors to leverage when targeting space assets. This recent article explores how the industry is responding to the threats to space systems. Methods of counteracting cyber actors including Space ISAC's wargaming table top exercises, meant to simulate a cyber operations environment, as well as standardizing zero-trust architectures across all space vehicles. #cyber #space #cybersecurity #wargames

Bandwidth pricing and terminal certification remain hurdles to the widespread adoption of Starlink and OneWeb LEO broadband by railroads. Starlink and OneWeb are best suited for rail routes through rural areas where terrestrial connectivity is poor or intermittent. LEO is preferable for rail applications, as GEO satellites are often below the tree line or other obstructions in the northern latitudes. Tests performed in Britain and Lithuania reported 99% coverage in a combined terrestrial/satellite network, while terrestrial alone was only 60%. New article from Analysys Mason: https://lnkd.in/e4iTmTNH To ensure sustainability, civil space entities will need to explore multiple revenue streams, including diversifying beyond government contracts. Going forward, players in the civil space sector will need to showcase value propositions and efficient spending plans in order to make up for significant budgetary cuts throughout the sector. Commercial players that want to capture and retain revenue will also need to demonstrate their value, especially as budgets for the 2025 fiscal year are released. #space #government #B2G #sustainability #budget

A new report asserts that cyberattacks are the most likely avenue for bad actors to leverage when looking to degrade and disrupt space assets. This #ConstellationsArticle explores the various ways that industry is responding to the increasingly pervasive threats to space systems, including: - Space ISAC’s wargaming table top exercises (TTX) called Hera’s Revenge, which is meant to simulate a cyber operations environment as it undergoes a cyberattack. - Standardizing zero-trust architectures (ZTA) across the space segment. Ground segments are usually more secure than their space counterparts, which has led to industry leaders exploring end-to-end Zero Trust Architecture across all space vehicles.
