We’re excited to announce that KoinWorks has raised $108 million in Series C funding to bring more access to underserved small-to-medium-sized enterprise businesses (SME’s) and entrepreneurs.  Although Indonesia is one of the world’s largest economies, access to adequate finances is a significant problem most SMEs face when trying to scale their business. This round of funding led by MDI Ventures hopes to help SMEs gain footing in emerging markets such as Indonesia.  Since our founding in 2016, we have remained committed to keeping entrepreneurs’ success in a growing economy at the forefront of our vision. Last week, we had the opportunity of speaking at the Certified Wealth Managers' Association Global Executive Program 2024 in Bali, which aims to enhance the wealth management profession through education, research, product creation, and global and local networking opportunities. Angelique Timmer, our Chief of Impact and ESG, emphasized the importance of MSMEs in Indonesia and the possibilities for impact investing. Our VP of Wealth Management, Dr.(c) Willy Sanjaya, SE, M.Akt, CFP®, AEPP®, CWPP ,CP.NLP, CSSP, CPS, CCSM, CIFA, CPRM®, CIFM®, CWM® also participated in the event to obtain his Certified Wealth Manager certification. Despite their significant contribution, many remain underbanked, highlighting a vast untapped market for innovative financial solutions. 2. Impact Investing: This approach seamlessly blends the pursuit of financial returns with a commitment to positive social and environmental outcomes. It's an essential tool for addressing global challenges, from climate change to economic instability. 3. Fintech and MSMEs: Fintech platforms, like KoinWorks, leverage data analytics to provide faster and more accessible funding solutions tailored to MSMEs. This democratizes access to finance, empowering MSMEs to secure the capital they need efficiently. 4. Significant Social Impact: Investing in MSMEs not only yields financial returns but also drives substantial social impact. At KoinWorks, our investments have led to an average 37% increase in business revenue and the creation of 2-8 jobs per loan disbursement. 5. The Future of Digital Finance: Indonesia's digital economy, currently representing 6% of GDP, is poised for significant growth. Digital tools and payment systems will be crucial in bridging the US$ 76 billion economy gap by 2025. One of the key takeaways from the event is the survey on the role of fintech lending for MSMEs: - Impactful Loans for MSMEs: Insights indicate that loans from fintech lending significantly enhance production flow for MSMEs. - Positive Influence on Business Development: 42.6% of participants noted that fintech lending contributes positively to strategic business development. - Empowering Growth Strategies: Approximately 30.6% of attendees recognized fintech lending as pivotal in expanding business strategies.
