In the latest edition of our Media Bulletin newsletter, we highlight why subscribers successfully lobbied Indian publisher Newslaundry to build an app. It's a great story showing the value of audience research, the power of crowdfunding and how users convinced them that they needed to make accessibility a priority. #appstrategy #crowdfunding #audienceresearch

In the most recent edition of our Media Bulletin newsletter, we looked at research in the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism's latest Digital News Report. They have found that overall subscription growth has stalled when measured by the number of people who have paid for news in the last year across 20 countries. Don't Panic! Across these same countries, more than a third say that they would be willing to pay something for news, and the research provides insights into the amount they are willing to pay. Read on to see why our analysis concludes there is plenty of headroom left for media subscriptions. #subscriptions #newsmedia #journalism

In the latest edition of the Media Bulletin, we looked at the digital transformation efforts at two major media houses - Mediahuis nv and NTM AB. NTM wanted to restart their subscription growth after it stalled in 2020, and Mediahuis says that it needs more digital subscribers to reorient its business to digital. To achieve their ambitious digital subscription goals, both groups are focused on engaging young, mobile audiences. #mobilepublishing #digitaltransformation

In the most recent edition of our Media Bulletin, we look at research about people's attitudes towards generative AI and journalism hot off the presses from Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism by Richard Fletcher and Rasmus Kleis Nielsen. YouGov polled 2000 people in each of six countries - Argentina, Denmark, France, Japan, the UK, and the USA. It should be noted that the researchers found that attitudes are still forming about genAI so consider this a snapshot in time. But a couple of things they found that publishers will want to take note of: • More people are aware of genAI tools than use them on a daily basis. • People are more accepting of genAI tools being used for subjects like sport and fashion than politics. • Most importantly, people's perception of genAI may impact their openness to paying for content. Oh, and attitudes differ greatly beteween the US and UK. Read on for some important insights as you are developing your AI strategies. #publishing #AI
