Salaries for food science careers have declined slightly compared to last year, according to IFT's 2024 Compensation and Career Path Report published earlier this month. This salary slowdown does appear to show signs of stabilization after rapid growth during the pandemic. Learn which skills are in demand, what Millennials and Gen Z are looking for in a career compared to Gen X and Boomers, and what this slight salary decline may mean for the evolving landscape of food science in Food Technology magazine. https://hubs.la/Q02JvPHN0 #FoodTech #Compensation #ScienceOfFood

Ultra-processed foods, or UPFs, are a controversial subject whether you're a consumer, food scientist, or anyone in between. Experts at a special session at IFT FIRST sponsored by IFT scientific journals discussed the benefits and drawbacks of UPFs. A recurring theme was the need for more research on UPFs, as current studies are limited and more collaboration is required. Discover more about UPFs from the discussion and find out how food science can help demystify the topic: https://hubs.la/Q02JhNWW0

Has someone finally cracked the code on cancer prevention, or even better, a cure for cancer with food? A new startup may hold the key, according to early trials. Biotech startup Filtricine developed a food line named Tality to fight and potentially prevent cancers. These foods can limit non-essential amino acids that cancer tumors rely on to grow, which essentially starves the tumor. Though initial studies are positive, more research and trials are necessary. Learn more about Filtricine, Tality, and how these foods could complement traditional cancer treatments in Food Technology magazine: https://hubs.la/Q02JkjWH0 #FoodTech #Biotech #ScienceOfFood
