    Apparel printing has been a major subject of conversation for in-plant directors in recent years. Deer Valley Unified School District Print Services in Phoenix, Arizona, is one that has capitalized on this opportunity. Apparel printing has added a massive revenue stream to the in-plant – work that was previously all going outside the organization. “We will have another record year in revenue; Apparel has helped us reach this goal. I have just been informed of three K-12 in-plants closing down in July in the Phoenix area; you must be an asset and not a liability to your school district." says Martin James, manager of Printing Services.     As the manager of Printing Services at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, Tina Wolfgram eagerly anticipates this year’s PRINTING United Expo. Her primary motivation lies in the opportunity to compare various equipment models from different vendors—all in one location. By attending last year’s Expo, Tina gained valuable takeaways. Focusing on small footprint flatbed printers, she was able to compare units and subsequently purchased a Xante 33. Networking with other in-plant managers, buyers, and operators also provided actionable ideas for her shop. Tina’s enthusiasm extends to the demos at the Expo; she loves seeing how things work and exploring bindery machines. Overall, attending the Expo allows her to explore options, learn from industry peers, and potentially discover new revenue-boosting ideas for her business.
