Excited for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris kicking off today! Did you know early specialization in one sport is a growing trend for young athletes? Sports specialization, or training in only one sport year-round, is becoming more common among young athletes. The popularity of travel leagues fuels this trend. More research shows that women athletes tend to experience more overuse injuries and severe injuries requiring surgery than their male counterparts. A recent study found a greater risk of concussions, stress fractures, and injuries among specialized athletes. Dr. Joanne Baird, a Board-Certified and Fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon with Gulf Orthopaedics, discusses preventing and treating injuries in young female athletes on an episode of LIFE Cast. 📲 Listen to the full episode --> https://brnw.ch/21wEey6 OR subscribe to LIFE Cast in your favorite podcast feed.

Robert Nelson and Chuck Oates, PT, recently joined Making Rounds on Fox10 news to discuss Infirmary Therapy Service's new option for outpatient therapy at home. With Therapy at Home, patients can schedule appointments for physical therapy and receive care in person at a location and time that is convenient for them. With Infirmary Health Therapy at Home, patients will receive treatment from the same therapist throughout their entire care journey, which can help to increase continuity of care. This approach reduces barriers to accessing physical therapy services and enables more patients to complete their treatment regimens. Infirmary Therapy Services has nine outpatient clinics conveniently located in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. Its team of licensed therapists treats each patient with a plan of care customized to their condition. They use a variety of innovative techniques, education, and equipment to help you move forward in your recovery. To schedule an appointment, please call 251-435-4876.
