It was great to spend time this week with ICF’s summer interns, who flew in from all over to meet up at our HQ. I’ve been impressed with their fresh perspectives and creativity. To each of you: thanks for sharing your talents with us!

Our expert Judsen Bruzgul is quoted in this Washington Post article on how climate change and extreme weather are impacting current and future operational decisions for utility execs. The article also shares how six New York utilities, ConEd, and Duke Energy are all planning to build resilience to these events–we were proud to support this work. https://okt.to/pEg3Na

Sunday is World Nature Conservation Day—an annual event that underscores the need to preserve the environment for future generations. California’s Santa Clara Valley—located just south of Silicon Valley—faces many conservation challenges shared with many locations around the world: expanding urban development, the loss of native habitats and special status species, and invasive species. For almost 20 years, our environment experts have been working with local agencies like the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Agency and other stakeholders to address the impacts of public and private projects on endangered and threatened species and their habitats. Prepared by ICF, the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Plan (a federal habitat conservation plan and California natural community conservation plan) balances economic development with nature conservation. The plan provides a streamlined approach for addressing regulated impacts to listed species and their habitats, including aquatic resources. Impacts are mitigated by creating an almost 46,500-acre reserve system designed to protect landscape connectivity and biological diversity across the region. Swipe to see some photos of the beautiful habitats they’re working hard to protect. Learn more about how we help clients comply with the federal Endangered Species Act (ESA) and related species laws and help protect nature: https://okt.to/5K847a

Congratulations to our own Seungwon (Isaac) Suh on his appointment to the Project Management Institute (PMI) Standards Development Team, responsible for writing/developing the Standard for Artificial Intelligence in Portfolio, Program, and Project Management. Isaac has been volunteering at PMI and is part of testing an innovative AI tool called PMI Infinity. PMI, a leading global authority in project management, is spearheading the development of a proposed ANSI standard for AI in portfolios, programs, and projects. This standard will provide essential principles and ethical guidance for practitioners. The Development Team, comprised of dedicated experts, is creating the content for the first edition of this standard. Their mission is to empower the project management community with practical insights on effectively integrating AI into portfolio, program, and project management. We’re proud to see Isaac contributing to shaping best practices and ethical considerations for AI adoption in projects. Check out PMI Standards & Publications: https://okt.to/b5YemS
