  • Congratulations to Huckleberry House Residential Counselor, Eman Alkaheli who was recently awarded the BAYAC AmeriCorps Pete Hudson Award! "Eman is driven by integrity, commitment, and a deep care for the people she works with and serves. She’s a warm presence, and is always cool, calm, and collected no matter the circumstance. She never hesitates when given a difficult task and is always shining a light on her peers," says her BAYAC AmeriCorps regional supervisor. About the award: Pete, who passed away in 2011, was more than a member of the BAYAC AmeriCorps staff team; he was a member of our BAYAC family. He had a heart big enough to personally touch each and every BAYAC AmeriCorps member with whom he came into contact. Pete was a quiet leader who had a soft-spoken but powerful presence. CONGRATULATIONS TO EMAN! We are so lucky to have her at Huckleberry Youth Programs and Huckleberry House. #AmeriCorps #AmeriCorpsvolunteer #huckleberryhouse

  • Today, July 30, is United Nations World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and this year's theme is "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking." The Huckleberry Advocacy and Response Team (HART) is hosting a workshop from the "The Cool Aunt Series" on Wed. Aug. 7 at 44 Gough Street. The "Cool Aunt Series" is a prevention group aimed at educating young people about commercial sexual exploitation to reduce their risk of being recruited into the commercial sex industry. This group is for youth who have not yet experienced commercial sex trafficking, but may be vulnerable to sexual exploitation. Help us spread the word! #EndHumanTrafficking #csecprevention

  • Happy to be part of this important event with 3rd Street Youth Center & Clinic

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for Part 1 of our Safe Sex Summer Series earlier this month, and to the Southeast Community Center for hosting! We spent the afternoon learning about healthy relationships and situationships, preventing STIs, consent, and more. We also enjoyed playing games and hosting a raffle! A special thank you to our friends from Black Women Revolt, Rafiki Coalition for Health and Wellness, San Francisco Department of Public Health, and Huckleberry Youth Programs for dropping by. If you weren't able to attend Part 1 of our Safe Sex Summer Series, stay tuned for Part 2, happening next month (details to come!). #WeAre3rdStreetYouth

  • CONGRATULATIONS to Huckleberry's incredible Marin County health education team on being selected to present at the National School-Based Health Conference hosted by the School-Based Health Alliance in Washington, D.C. earlier this month. Their workshop, "Fostering Inclusive Care: Centering Queer Youth in Sexual & Reproductive Health," was attended by more than 50 participants including program administrators, healthcare professionals, policy leaders, and youth leaders. With a focus on addressing the unique needs of queer youth within healthcare settings, the workshop provides crucial insights and practical strategies for health educators, clinic staff, and healthcare practitioners. The team applied to participate and their workshop was selected under the "Innovations" category, highlighting its forward-thinking approach to enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality for queer youth. Huckleberry is so proud of this team and their contribution to the conference's mission of advancing health equity and fostering partnerships across diverse communities. Read more about their presentation in D.C. and the amazing work they're doing in Marin County here: https://lnkd.in/gZk68WTb #healtheducation #adolescenthealtheducation #inclusivecare #inclusivehealthcare #marincountyyouth
