Read this to make your Friday a little happier. Imagine changing a recipe at work and then meeting the chef who wrote it. Last week, we rolled out our new Down South concept at St. Francis Downtown. David Highlender, our national culinary director of retail and branding, came to help with the launch and tried some of the food. He noticed the greens tasted different than his recipe. He asked to speak with the chef responsible for the greens. Cook Lamara Payton came over, looking worried. David quickly told her she did nothing wrong and that her greens were the best he had ever had. Her smile lit up the room. He rewrote the recipe with her changes and then sent her a framed copy. Thank you, Larmara Payton, for your creativity!

Hospitals are places of healing, but do they have to feel cold and clinical? They don't — and they shouldn't. Enter patient ambassadors. Patient ambassadors support patients by: ‣ Offering emotional support ‣ Helping navigate the healthcare system ‣ Acting as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare providers ‣ Addressing and resolving patient complaints and concerns quickly ‣ Coordinating non-medical services (transportation, accommodations for family, etc.) This way, patients can focus on getting better. Here are some of the benefits of having patient ambassadors: ⇾ Consistent Care: Ambassadors work the same shifts as nurses, so patients see familiar faces every day. ⇾ Enhanced Communication: Patient ambassadors help patients understand their care plans and feel comfortable voicing their concerns. ⇾ Improved Hospital Reputation: Word of mouth speaks volumes — healthcare facilities that take care of their patients earn more respect, attracting more patients. ⇾ Reduction in Complaints and Legal Issues: Quick resolution of issues can reduce formal complaints and potential legal actions. ⇾ Increased Patient Engagement: Engaged patients are more likely to follow treatment plans and participate in their own care, leading to better health outcomes. Patient ambassadors help hospitals improve patient satisfaction and create a comforting environment for recovery. Do you have patient ambassadors at your facility? Tell us about it in the comments! #OneHHS

You’re sick and in the hospital — what’s the first thing you want? Probably to feel better and go home. But after that? Something comforting. A delicious meal. Your food service program makes a difference in patient satisfaction and health by providing nutritious, balanced meals that make patients feel comfortable. Take our Down South concept for example. → braised short ribs → bourbon-glazed salmon → brisket chilli Healthy eating doesn’t have to be bland or unappetizing. We incorporated local favorites to add an extra touch of comfort, which has been shown to improve patient experience and aid their recovery. What comfort food would you like to see at your hospital? #OneHHS #HHSDifference

Does technology change the employee experience? The answer is a BIG yes. It’s important to think through the impact new tech will have on your employees and help calm any fears that a robot will take their jobs. John D. talks to Derek Kissos about the employee experience with Flippy, the fry station robot. Miso Robotics' Flippy robot is so well-liked by its coworkers they threw it a birthday party. What do you think — would you like to have a robot as a coworker? Do your employees welcome robotics and other tech innovations? Search for “The Outsource Advantage” on any podcast platform to find out more about Flippy and how to effectively communicate the benefits of new technology with your employees. #OneHHS #GainTheAdvantage #TheOutsourceAdvantage

You may have heard “eat a colorful diet” or “eat a rainbow diet”, but what does that mean? Eating a “rainbow diet” means eating a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables. Each color can represent different vitamins or antioxidants. Eating a lot of different colors = eating a wide spectrum of nutrients. Here’s the breakdown of what nutrients you can find in each color: Red: Lycopene (an antioxidant) supports heart health and vitamin C supports the immune system Yellow/Orange: Vitamins C and A are good for the immune system and skin health Green: Vitamin K for bone health while magnesium helps with muscle and nerve function Blue/Purple: Anthocyanin (another antioxidant) supports heart health and fiber supports digestion White/Brown: Potassium is good for muscle function and fiber helps digestion #OneHHS #Nutrition
