Today, Healthpeak (NYSE: DOC) announced financial results for the second quarter of 2024, highlighted by a net income of $0.21 per share. Scott Brinker, President and Chief Executive Officer, shared, "I congratulate our team for delivering a remarkable quarter. We successfully executed on all our priorities, including merger integration, leasing, asset sales, and accretive stock buybacks. This achievement enabled us to increase our 2024 earnings guidance for the second time this year. The second quarter was our strongest for lab leasing in several years, with over 800,000 square feet of executions, and we continued this momentum into July with an additional 180,000 square feet of leasing executions. Additionally, we secured an early renewal with CommonSpirit Health, extending the weighted average lease maturity to December 2035. We also closed on the sale of $823 million in outpatient medical buildings and bought back $88 million of stock." Healthpeak is dedicated to minimizing landfill waste through proactive recycling, composting, and various waste-reduction initiatives. At The Cove in South San Francisco, part of our Lab portfolio, a waste audit revealed that 40% of on-site waste was Styrofoam, which is not recyclable through standard methods in the Bay Area. Under the leadership of Property Manager Stacey Daniels, The Cove collaborated with a local recycling group to transform our Styrofoam waste into reusable materials such as pens, rulers, surfboards, and home insulation. This initiative has successfully diverted over 5,000 pounds of Styrofoam from landfills to date.
