We were bursting with pride to attend the ribbon-cutting for our member Reframe Systems' ADU, its first customer project! This 2-bedroom, all-electric, net-zero Passive House unit was built using robotic technology and people power at Reframe’s Andover-based modular microfactory and then assembled on site in Arlington, MA. It will likely be part of Arlington's affordable housing lottery within the next year! 🏡 Reframe Systems is ushering in a new era of cost-effective, net-zero, and highly scalable prefab homes, taking advantage of the climate benefits of modular construction with a more efficient and dynamic approach to building. Over the past six months of #GoBuild2023, Saint-Gobain has worked closely with six building tech startups to advance innovations for circularity and decarbonization of the built environment. Today, we’re proud to share just some of the outcomes from the program: - Active Surfaces conducted extensive testing at Saint-Gobain’s facilities to see how the startup’s solution could work with the corporate’s products, and the two are continuing to conduct R&D and testing. - Carbon Upcycling Technologies and Saint-Gobain collaborated to explore valorizing and upcycling waste for the startup’s process. - Endeavor Composites, Inc. and Saint-Gobain are currently running pilots at both companies’ facilities to fabricate new construction products by combining the startup’s non-woven fiber composite technology with Saint-Gobain’s materials. The startup was also invited to pitch to dozens of additional Saint-Gobain business lines and is actively exploring collaborations with them. - Hempitecture worked closely with Saint-Gobain to to evaluate Hempitecture’s products, and Saint-Gobain is currently exploring the unique properties and benefits of the startup’s hemp-fiber insulation. - Puro Renewables, Inc.worked with Saint-Gobain to explore applications for the startup’s technology, with positive test results; the two are continuing to work together on life-cycle analyses. - ZS2 Technologies collaborated with Saint-Gobain on product development opportunities, with Saint-Gobain visiting the startup’s Calgary facility three times to witness its positive test results. Massachusetts has adopted ambitious #ClimateGoals, but we need to make progress every session in order to meet them. As an organization that's been working to catalyze climate action since 2011, we know the importance of passing ambitious legislation that moves us toward our shared climate goals and advances our #CleanEnergyEconomy. That’s why Greentown Labs is one of 28 institutions and businesses calling on the Massachusetts Legislature to pass the 2024 Omnibus Climate Bill before July 31. This crucial legislation will build a responsibly-sited grid, deploy #RenewableEnergy, improve community engagement, electrify our transportation, and #decarbonize our homes and businesses. #MAPoli

Michael has extensive experience with minority and growth equity investments (including preferred equity and convertible debt financings), as well as acquisitions, dispositions and sale-of-the-company transactions, and corporate reorganizations. Join us at Ion Houston on July 30 at 5pm CT: https://lnkd.in/eNG22qxJ The Houston Ion District Investor Activation Program is helping to build an equitable startup ecosystem capable of rapid deployment by addressing a fundamental challenge: the region’s lack of funding for early-stage climatetech startups, especially for those led by underrepresented founders. Stepwise's solution bridges a complicated yet crucial part of EV ownership: the increased amount of electricity that charging demands from your home electrical system. Today’s electric panels don’t have the built-in intelligence or real-time insights needed to deliver their full electrical capacity: an average U.S. home uses just 4% of its panel’s ampacity rating. ⚡ Stepwise's solution optimizes electrical panels to tap into their full capacity. Its product, EV Tap, balances a home’s energy demand by increasing power sent to an EV charger when other electrical demands are low and vice versa. This modulation enables an EV charger—which could use about 50 amps—to run in a house with a 100-amp electrical panel, with enough ampacity left over for other electricity needs. By automatically shifting and deferring loads, EV Tap allows homeowners to sidestep the costly electrical panel upgrades (which can run up to $10,000) that are typically necessary for home electrification.
