It was a wonderful full-circle moment to attend the opening of AeroShield Materials's brand-new 12,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in #WalthamMA this week and celebrate its continued momentum for commercializing next-generation #buildingtech! AeroShield also announced a $5M fundraise on top of its recently-awarded $14.5M ARPA-E grant, which will support the startup as it grows its team to more than 30 employees and begins manufacturing full-sized products in the new facility. AeroShield’s transparent silica aerogel sheets are some of the most insulating materials ever created and can be added inside double-pane windows and doors to improve energy performance by up to 65%. The facility in Waltham will significantly expand the company's capabilities with cutting-edge aerogel R&D labs, manufacturing equipment, assembly lines, and testing equipment. AeroShield won Cleantech Open Northeast / NECEC in 2019, joined Greentown Boston in 2020, participated in #GoBuild2021 with Saint-Gobain and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center in 2021, and has been hard at work commercializing its tech ever since. It was wonderful to celebrate the milestone for the AeroShield team alongside fellow supporters Yvonne Hao, Secretary of the Executive Office of Economic Development for Massachusetts, Emily Reichert, CEO of Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Carolyn Kirk, CEO of Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, Vinit Nijhawan (he/him), Managing Director of MassVentures, and Jonathan Glass Deputy Director for Commercialization at ARPA-E. Join us in sending a massive congratulations to Elise Strobach, Kyle Wilke, Aaron Baskerville-Bridges, and the entire AeroShield Materials team! 👏 Learn more about the new facility here: https://lnkd.in/e-gtJ38J #builtenvironment #energyefficiency #climatetech #manufacturing #buildingefficiency
