On our 5th anniversary, we’re honored to have our impact and next phase of culture-defining work in Vanity Fair! 5 years ago, Gold House began our culture-shaping work with the debut of Crazy Rich Asians, convening the community behind the first-ever #GoldOpen with Director Jon M. Chu and his cast. The film broke records and began a groundswell of excitement and investment in Asian Pacific stories that led to this year’s historic Academy Awards. Since Day 1, a lean but mighty co-founding team of passionate volunteers has invested thousands of hours connecting with hundreds of leaders while building our now history-making ventures including: - Co-Founders Kevin LinJanet YangPatrick LeeMaggie HsuSanjay SharmaKevin NishimuraJames RohKirby LeeJeremy T., and Bing Chen - The first program directors Megan RuanMikkoh ChenYao KingKaylyn ShibataCindy Joung, Laura Choi, Ben Chu, CPA, Chiharu Iijima, James Kuk, Josh Jun, and Christopher Au and their 100-person global Fellowship army - The next Board Directors once we incorporated as a nonprofit including Prabal GurungMichelle Lee, and Daniel Dae Kim; and our newest Directors Agnes Chu and Helen Lin - And long-standing collaborations with Eric Feng, Nina Yang Bongiovi, Susie Nam, Michelle Tang, Christina Chou, Sheri Bryant, and Tim Chang Now, with a full time team, Gold House has built the leading cultural ecosystem focused on “equitable excellence”: identifying the people, projects, and platforms that impact and reach the most communities while empowering them to foster expansive socioeconomic change. Alongside key leaders and allies, we unite, invest in, and champion Asian Pacific creators and companies through innovative programs and platforms that guarantee commercial viability for cultural imperatives. We work with artists and every major media company to reshape public narratives; partner with global companies and investors to redefine existing power structures; and unite our community in celebration and excellence to reimagine possibilities. Now, we begin our next phase, Gold Bridge, to better connect industries, multicultural communities, and continents. Thank you to everyone committed to building a tomorrow for all! 🔗: goldhouse.org/vanityfair 📷: Daniel Seung Lee

It is basically impossible to get a reservation at Din Tai Fung Restaurant Group NYC at the moment. Friends have been texting me like I have some sort of magic wand — I wish!! 😩 The largest-ever location of the global dim sum chain held its grand opening last week and I grabbed Albert Yang, EVP and head of North America operations, after the ribbon cutting ceremony to get his thoughts on the wild demand: "We're blessed to have such a strong customer base and we have a responsibility to be able to share this experience with as many people as we can," he told me. Albert, his brother and his family have been busy this summer with another opening as well — in Anaheim. Bouncing back and forth between the coasts and managing hundreds of people to be trained in the DTF way is a job I'm particularly curious to learn more about. Aren't you? One of my servers originally from San Diego shared with me that he would be posted in the NYC location for about a month to help get the new place humming. My story @ Axios: https://lnkd.in/eygivEWM

We know that real magic comes from finding a way to each other–even if we’ve been historically apart. Jon M. Chu is a once-in-a-generation bridge: between industries, between communities, and between cultures. A son of Silicon Valley with a view of Hollywood, Jon has leveraged the lean scale of one industry and matched it with the creative gravity of another. From Crazy Rich Asians to In the Heights to the forthcoming blockbuster Wicked, he’s bridged essential new portrayals in media representation with unforgettable stories that have set new baselines for generations to come. Most of all, he’s done it without ego, with only grace, and only the best humor. There’s a reason why we’re lucky to call him a Gold House co-founder, investor, and host of our first Family Dinner where we birthed the first global #GoldOpen movement with him and his Crazy Rich cast. Do yourself and those you love a favor: devour and share his memoir VIEWFINDER to learn how you can birth new industries, communities, and bridge a more defiant and defined culture for all. VIEWFINDER is available everywhere now on Amazon: https://lnkd.in/efE8dmsT

Gold House's Creative Equity Fund hosted an early screening of #DÌDI to celebrate its arrival to select theaters this Friday! The debut feature film by Academy-Award-nominated director Sean Wang marks our first-ever investment into a motion picture. Our very own Christine Yi Yi expressed to our screening audience how special this film is, and how she resonated with the film's themes of youth, discovery, and family. 🥹 Thank you to Jeremy Liew, Mike Chat, Nelson Chu, and Soo Chin for making this screening possible!
