About us

Goldfish Swim School was founded in 2005 by husband and wife team Chris and Jenny McCuiston. Chris and Jenny took a concept that they formulated with nearly two years of research, and cultivated a business that provides results in the learn-to-swim environment that you simply can’t find anywhere else. Their proprietary curriculum and systems were developed after traveling the country in search of the “best practices” to teach babies and young children how to swim. The first school, in Birmingham, Michigan, opened in 2006, and quickly saw success. Opening its doors with over 500 students at inception, Goldfish currently teaches more than 70,000 students per month across the franchise system. At the beginning of 2008, it made sense to begin the franchising process. As of early 2017, we are currently in the process of expanding franchise opportunities throughout the country and internationally, with over 80 schools open or in development in more than 23 states and Canada. In honor of #WorldDrowningPreventionDay, we want to highlight the amazing work being done by our partners the National Drowning Prevention Alliance and Every Child A Swimmer. 💙 These two outstanding organizations are on a mission to reduce the number of drownings and prevent tragedy around the water through increased education and proactive behavior. This is a mission that we are proud to say we share. So today, please remember that together we can all play a role in drowning prevention by helping to educate those around us about the importance of water safety and ensuring that children are enrolled in formal swim lessons. 🧡 Additional layers of protection include: 🔷 Always using Coast Guard-approved life jackets 🔷 Install proper barriers and alarms 🔷 Have proper supervision at all times whenever children are in or near the water #FirstSport #DrowningPrevention

It's hard to believe we kicked off our first Safer Swimmer Pledge campaign 4 years ago in 2021. This mission is near and dear to our hearts and looking back at all it has accomplished is truly finspirational, so we wanted to share it with all of you. 🧡 - Over 55k individuals across North America have taken the Safer Swimmer Pledge - Over $60k has been donated to the USA Swimming Foundation - Families in more than 170 communities have learned how to be safer in and around the water 2024 exceeded all expectations, and it's all thanks to you, our amazing community, who helped make it happen!! #SwimSchool #MakingADifference

Do you know what drives belief? Community. How? By telling their stories. I had the incredible opportunity to attend International Franchise Association's Open for Opportunity event at Goldfish Swim School Franchising, LLC this morning. The round table featured multiple franchisees from some prominent franchise brands including Ziebart International, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Ace Handyman Services, Great Clips Inc. and Planet Fitness who told their stories to Michigan representatives. Some of the stories that were told: - I would not be a business owner if it was not for the franchise model - I was able to grow from an employee to a business owner because of the franchise model - I used to own my own small businesses and employed 4 people. Because of the franchise model I now employ hundreds of people in my community - I am able to give back to my community and make a difference Steve White, president of PuroClean also shared how VetFran supports Veterans and helps them get trained to work in the franchise industry. If you have not done so, scream from the top of the mountaintops what makes your industry, your community great. Share the WHY behind the WHAT. See the difference that it can make. Franchise industry friends! I feel recharged. Let's go tell people our story! Thank you to Matthew Haller and Erica Farage and the FBN & WFN of SE Michigan for organizing the event and bringing attention to the wonderful work our industry is doing to build local communities. I even got to say hello to former REGROUPer Shana Krisan, CFE!! Friday mornings should always be like this!

An important reminder from our friends and partner the National Drowning Prevention Alliance. Even if swim time has ended, it's important to remain water safety aware. Please share with friends and family so that together, we can all play a role in drowning prevention. 💙 Make sure all gates and doors are securely locked 💙 Always remove all toys from pools or sides of pools 💙 Drain any standing water from things like kiddie pools or water tables #DrowningPrevention #WaterSafety
