    Assistant Professor of Agronomy

Just returned from an incredible two-week journey to Nepal, with 15 amazing students from the University of Central Missouri. This brief yet impactful volunteer program was packed with unforgettable experiences, laughter, and the joy of giving back to the community. From teaching English to local children and assisting with community projects to exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Nepal, every moment was truly special. We made memories that will last a lifetime, built friendships, and left with hearts fuller and minds broader. A huge thank you to everyone who made this trip possible and to the wonderful people of Nepal, including friends and family, for their warmth and hospitality. Until next time, Nepal💙 #GlobalVolunteers #StudyAbroad #2024 #culturalexchange #memoriesforlife #gratitude #Global Volunteers

Prior to my internship with United Airlines, this past week & next week I have the opportunity to serve with Global Volunteers in Kathmandu, Nepal. Similar to my trip with them in Tanzania last May, it is encouraging to see the significant work the organization is doing within this community already within this first week. From teaching Conversational-English, Computer Skills, and Painting School Buildings, my colleagues and I have been delighted to make connections, learn from the locals, and enjoy the beautiful sights of the city. Here are a few photos capturing our first week in Nepal with Global Volunteers & the University of Central Missouri.

In this ongoing series, we describe Global Volunteers’ guiding principles. These ten foundational values shape our human and economic development approach and, in partnership with communities we serve globally, have yielded remarkable results. These principles are shared with all our volunteers as they prepare for their service programs, equipping them to effectively serve communities and derive maximum personal growth from the experience. Each of us is accountable for our own personal development. However, we are also entrusted with gifts and talents to be shared with others. Global Volunteers provides a direct way to share those gifts and talents. We are dedicated to building a foundation for world peace and justice by enabling ordinary people to make a contribution through service to others and, in the process, enrich the opportunities for mutual international understanding.
