We caught up with Pablo Altozano Collar, an intern on our Business Transformation team in Madrid, for an update on his summer: A few weeks in, what is your take on working at FTI Consulting? Pablo: Interning at FTI Consulting has been very enriching so far. Getting to work with the Business Transformation team and collaborate with other teams across the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment has provided an unrivaled level of exposure. What do you hope to learn or achieve in the coming months? Pablo: I hope to get to know all members of the team better both inside and outside of the office – continuing to share wonderful experiences with them – as well as further immerse myself in skillset development activities. What is the most exciting thing you've done this summer? Pablo: During my first week at the office in June, we had the chance to go to Asturias, a region in northern Spain, as part of the team´s offsite. Being only three days into my internship, the trip – where we had the opportunity to do many activities together, including kayaking down the famous Descenso del Sella – was a wonderful opportunity to get to know everyone and further develop team chemistry. What is your favorite way to unwind after a busy day? Pablo: I like to exchange conversations with my siblings and parents about how our day was. I also like to take my dog for a walk or play in the park. #FTIConsultingIntern #Internship

Between washing marker stains out of furniture and mentoring junior staff, Managing Director Steve Lagnese has kept busy over the last 10 years with #TeamFTI. We asked him a few questions to commemorate his anniversary: What is your favorite part about working at FTI Consulting? Steven: It’s really two-fold. First would be the amazing people that I have the pleasure of working with each day. I am surrounded by incredibly supportive and intelligent people, not just within Corporate Finance, but across all of our segments. Second would be the exciting and challenging work we do for our clients. Our clients ask us to solve complex problems, often under very tight timelines. Delivering value in those situations is incredibly rewarding and makes us all strive to exceed their expectations. What makes FTI Consulting different from other firms? Steven: Culture. FTI Consulting fosters a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture that I have not experienced during my time with other professional service firms. Senior leadership – whether that be the leaders of our Transactions practice, Corporate Finance segment or executive leadership team – are very transparent, frequently communicating updates on past performance and their visions for future growth. New ideas are welcomed, heard by leadership and thoughtfully considered. You’ve been with FTI Consulting for a decade now. What is your greatest career achievement during that time? Steven: Both FTI Consulting and our Transactions practice have experienced tremendous growth during this time, which I feel very fortunate to be a part of. Watching junior staff that I have coached and mentored over the years develop and progress in their careers provides a great sense of pride. What do you like to do outside of work? Steven: I have four kids under the age of eight, so most of my time outside of work is spent playing with them, attending youth sporting events, changing diapers, washing marker stains out of furniture, etc.! I also love playing tennis, golfing and skiing. I am grateful to have the professional flexibility that allows me to enjoy these activities and spend lots of time with my family.

Meet Zahra Mogadasi, an intern on our Business Transformation team, who's pursuing her third degree from London Business School and has many great insights to share: Why did you choose to intern at FTI Consulting? Zahra: I first heard about FTI Consulting at an employer presentation session at school. I was impressed by the significant impact they make and the challenging problems they solve. The Business Transformation practice was particularly attractive to me, as it perfectly aligns with the type of work I’ve always been passionate about. What is something you didn’t know about FTI Consulting prior to joining? Zahra: I knew FTI Consulting offers a wide range of services, but I didn't realize the full extent until I joined the intern induction session and met interns from all different teams. Honestly, I was quite surprised! What inspired you to pursue your current field of study? Zahra: I’ve always been interested in working in business. Even when choosing my engineering undergrad, I opted for a program with a touch of management. This led me to pursue a master’s in business management and kickstart my career. After several years in the field, I decided to return to school to build an international network and refresh my business knowledge. That's how I ended up at LBS! You previously worked in Marketing. How did this experience help prepare you for a career in business transformation? Zahra: Working in marketing and managing millions of users enhanced my problem-solving and analytical skills. However, despite mainly working in marketing, I never limited myself to my title. I participated in various strategy projects, from one-off service development assessments to the large-scale project of facilitating Iran's first tech IPO. What inspires you to be a lifelong learner? Zahra: I love learning new things, as all humans do. However, I remember telling a friend that I’d rather die than go back to school, just a year before applying to business schools! So, my decision to pursue a third degree was primarily driven by the desire to gain international exposure, build a network and enhance my soft skills. All that being said, studying at LBS has changed my view. I’ve come to enjoy the academic side of an MBA, as the classes are not just about learning new materials but also about exploring new ways of thinking. #FTIConsultingIntern #Internship

The average SPAC is valued below 43% of its IPO price, compared to 50% at the end of 2023 and 67% a year ago. However, only 8% of SPACs have filed for bankruptcy, gone out of business or been acquired despite massive underperformance. Michael C. Eisenband, Global Co-Leader of our Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment, discusses how SPACs will be fertile ground for restructuring services in the year ahead: https://bit.ly/46et1yF #SPACs #Restructuring
