Data published in New England Journal of Medicine suggest that an approved therapy for HIV/AIDS may also be highly effective in preventing HIV infection. Coming more than four decades after the onset of the AIDS pandemic, these data remind us that persistence and continued investment in solving complex biologic problems is essential for improving, protecting, and saving lives.
