Check out Michael Robinov's interview with Matt Newberg at HNGRY last week and find out how you don't have to sacrifice your values for convenience with Farm to People. Thanks for listening.
I had an awesome conversation with Michael Robinov of Farm To People about building its farm-to-door grocery delivery service in NYC. By working directly with farmers, not distributors, and limiting its delivery radius, the startup clocks the fastest time from harvest to delivery while getting $0.50 of every retail dollar back into farmers hands, over 3x the national average. While Farm To People only counts 800 SKUs, it is heavily indexed on local organic produce, meat, and dairy that is harder to source. Thus, it aims to marry the convenience of an Amazon or Instacart with the quality of a local farmers market. It's a decentralized model that can someday be replicated with hyperlocal supply chains across the country. "It's this race to stay cheap and as fast as possible, but not with us in mind," said Robinov of our current mass grocery retail landscape. With Farm To People, "you don't have to sacrifice your values for convenience," he added.
