Empowering Our Community: Announcing Our Partnership with Southern University We're excited to partner with Southern University to bring educational opportunities to our community! This program supports residents in pursuing their GED or further education in post-secondary, technical, or vocational schools. Stone Vista residents actively participated by applying for programs to obtain their GED or advance to post-secondary, technical, or vocational education. Southern University supports and ensures participants have the laptops and resources they need to succeed. They're also on hand to assist with college applications, financial aid, and testing preparations. Since the meeting other residents have shown an interest in the program. Here's what she's been up to: - Participated in the Region 9, AE Council Meeting - Attended the NAA Board Meeting - Joined the esteemed Reception and Installation Dinner Kimberly played a crucial role at the Assembly of Delegates (AOD), a significant gathering under the National Apartment Association (NAA). The AOD, consisting of up to 250 delegates from the NAA's ten regions, is the largest annual business meeting of the NAA. This pivotal event brings together all NAA and NAAEI Boards, Committees, and Task Forces, and is instrumental in installing new volunteer leadership. During these meetings, Kimberly exercised her right to vote on behalf of our local association, ensuring our voice and perspectives were heard in key discussions and decisions. Groundbreaking Ceremony: Senior Housing Community at New Orleans Riverside We are honored to announce the commencement of our groundbreaking ceremony today, October 25, 2023, for the Senior Housing Community at New Orleans Riverside at Federal City. This initiative underscores our commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community, especially for our veterans and senior citizens in the Algiers area. New Orleans Riverside at Federal City is a testament to transformative urban development. Spanning 156 acres, what was once the Naval Support Activity (NSA) New Orleans has evolved into a thriving mixed-use community. Today, it proudly houses several institutions, numerous businesses, and is home to over 200 families. As we look to the future, we are excited about the potential of additional residential and commercial projects that will further enhance the vibrancy of this community. Central to the success of this project has been the unwavering support of the Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC). Their generous award of $10.5 million in Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds and $796,465 in Low Income Housing Tax Credits has been instrumental. As part of our commitment to the community, the Senior Housing Community is set to feature 70 units, each meticulously designed with disaster-resilient features to ensure the utmost safety of its residents. We are delighted to offer a community center, providing a space for residents to engage and connect, all at no additional cost. The success and vision of New Orleans Riverside at Federal City are attributed to our distinguished development partners.
