My name is Desmond, and I have had epilepsy since I was 8 years old. I am now 26 and living with tonic-clonic seizures. It wasn’t easy growing up with epilepsy, but I learned how to cope with daily challenges. My main challenge was having confidence in myself. I learned to love life for what it is, and not be angry about my situation. Don’t let epilepsy bring you down, the world is your oyster. You can either let this overtake you or overtake it. In reading so many stories, I know I am not alone, which is comforting. I hope to become an awareness advocate for the Epilepsy Foundation!
