U.S. federal and state governments are incentivizing distributed energy generation technologies like residential solar and storage to speed up decarbonization. Enverus Intelligence Research (EIR) finds that the combination of these incentives, decreasing rooftop solar costs and rising retail power prices strengthens the economic rationale for installing household solar and storage. The duck curve in California demonstrates the significant effects this can have on load (Figure 1). • EIR’s long-term load forecast predicts that behind-the-meter solar and storage solutions will be economically driven, with additional demand influenced by energy security and environmental concerns. • The forecast quantifies annual cost savings from rooftop solar and estimates residential solar demand based on historical cost savings correlations. • Other key factors considered include storage costs, interest rates and avoided cost tariffs like California's NEM 3.0. Keep up to date with our latest thoughts and analysis on the most challenging problems facing the energy industry by subscribing to Energy Transition Today. Curious about wind generation trends in MISO? Our VP of Power and Renewables @Thomas Sherman dropped some insights into the least windy months: historically August and July, with July 2023 being the lowest on record. Our new Mid-Term Nodal Renewable Forecast analyzes historical weather data since 2017 to accurately estimate on-peak wind potential. Ask us how we can help you understand generation variance caused by weather volatility! https://bit.ly/3WHRPfo

    Developing Renewable Energy Forecasting Tools

What are the least windy months in MISO? History shows August and July. The 5 lowest wind months since 2017 by mean hourly on-peak potential generation are: 1) Jul 2023 2) Jul 2021 3) Aug 2019 4) Aug 2017 5) Jul 2017 Using our Mid-Term Nodal Renewable forecast, we estimate hourly on-peak wind potential using today’s current wind fleet. To do so, we take historical weather observations back to 2017 and transform the data into farm-level generation using a series of physics-based algorithms. This method normalizes for installed wind capacity growth and enables us to explore variance in generation caused by weather volatility. Below is a screen shot of our Mid-Term Nodal Renewable Forecast UI, showing MISO System-Wide wind potential sorted by mean hourly generation. Get in touch with Chris Winburn, CPA, Joe Salgado, and Vincent Zicarelli to explore our new forecast service in more detail! #powertrading #FTR #windenergy #Enverus

For E&P companies and investors, pinpointing what remains to be drilled, where it is and who might drill it is crucial. Yet, traditional calculations often paint an overly optimistic picture. Conventional acreage math, originally designed for vertical wells, falls short in today's landscape dominated by complex, multi-dimensional development techniques. These calculations frequently overestimate potential by up to 50%, as they fail to incorporate the nuances of modern cube-style development, parent/child well dynamics, advanced shale geology and the realities of 2+ mile lateral lengths. Learn how to overcome this challenge by embracing advanced modeling to get an accurate picture of the remaining drilling inventory. Read on to find out how: https://lnkd.in/grMHtAVs
