📣 BREAKING NEWS: IMPORTANT UPDATES ON THE UPCOMING GAPB REPORT! 👇🏼 Thanks to our Advocacy Liaison Regina Crawford — who is also a member of the Advisory Committee on Ground Ambulance and Patient Billing (GAPB) — we’re able to provide you with some updates from the GAPB Advisory Committee Report that will be released later this month. ❇️ The Committee’s report to Congress included 14 key recommendations and 4 key findings designed to improve transparency, ensure fair reimbursement rates, and protect patients by strengthening state and local control. ❇️ If these recommendations are adopted, they will remove patient involvement in billing disputes — allowing EMS providers to focus on their primary mission of providing life-saving emergency care. ❇️ These recommendations also seek to enable small or volunteer-staffed ambulance services to negotiate sustainable in-network rates with dozens of insurance plans, remedying the foundational disconnect between patients, EMS providers, and health plans. ❇️ The GAPB Advisory Committee has also worked collaboratively to address the challenges faced by smaller community-based providers, proposing recommendations that will potentially help alleviate the financial pressures associated with wages, fuel, and medical supplies while also enhancing patient protection from surprise insurance denials.
