How can you make LLM-as-judge reliable in specialized domains? Our applied AI team developed a simple but effective approach called Grading Notes that we've been using in Databricks Assistant. We think this can help anyone doing domain-specific AI! Grading Notes are very lightweight annotations on each question that help an LLM judge answers, and lead to high judge alignment with human ratings without expensive manual annotation of all answers. Kudos to E. Yi Liu and Ritendra Datta for creating and operationalizing this! https://lnkd.in/gA9JXbNi

We’re thrilled to partner with AI at Meta to release the Llama 3.1 series of models on Databricks – available to our customers today. These models expand context length to 128K, add multilingual capabilities, and include Llama 3.1 405B — the largest and highest-quality openly available foundation model. With this release, customers can serve and fine-tune the Llama 3.1 models, connect them to our RAG and agentic systems, easily generate synthetic data to better customize their models, and leverage them for scalable evaluation.
