July is Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. At CVP’s Health Research and Technology Division, we honor her legacy by raising awareness and improving access to mental health treatment and services for minority and underserved communities. Bebe Moore Campbell, a celebrated author and advocate for mental health in minority communities, continues to inspire our commitment to inclusivity, empathy, and culturally competent approaches to mental health support and care. Dr. Allison M. Bondanza, Ph.D., ABPP, a Clinical Psychologist at CVP, shares, “I am committed to creating a safe space and workplace culture for people in minority communities. By fostering inclusive and culturally sensitive environments, including the workplace, we can empower individuals to confront barriers and stigma associated with mental health, ultimately improving the overall quality of life for employees.” At CVP, we aim to promote public awareness of mental illness and the unique challenges faced by minority communities while advocating for equitable mental health care and resources to ensure everyone receives the support they need. Together, we can break the stigma and build a more inclusive approach to mental health. #ShadesofMentalHealth #MinorityMentalHealth #MentalHealthAwareness #BebeMooreCampbell #BetheSourceforBetterHealth NAMI

Juneteenth (short for June Nineteenth) commemorates the day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to free all remaining enslaved people—more than two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Also known as Freedom Day, Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery in the United States and serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring struggle for equity and justice. PTSD is a treatable mental health condition affecting millions worldwide, with 7-8% of the population diagnosed. Veterans are at higher risk due to traumatic military experiences, but stigma and lack of awareness can prevent individuals from seeking help. CVP's Health Research and Technology Division supports Veterans' mental health and wellness by collaborating with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (OMHSP) to develop innovative solutions for enhancing mental health services through policy development, project management, and communication support for new mental health and suicide prevention legislation. Together, we can work to reduce the stigma associated with PTSD and ensure that those affected receive the support and care they need to recover and lead fulfilling lives. If you or a loved one are managing symptoms of PTSD, numerous resources, such as the National Center for PTSD, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, PTSD Foundation of America, online support groups, and mental health professionals; for help, visit https://lnkd.in/esmZZ2K. For immediate support during a crisis, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Veterans can reach the #VeteransCrisisLine by pressing 1 after dialing 988, texting 838255, or chatting online at veteranscrisisline.net. If you are not a veteran, simply dial 988 for crisis support. The CVP Health Research and Technology team had an incredible time attending the Substance Use & Mental Health Workshop at the CSTE 2024 Annual Conference! We learned about Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)'s Behavioral Health Services Information System (BHSIS) and the rich substance use and mental health-related data it offers for research and analysis. It was highly informative to connect with state behavioral health professionals, share insights, discuss CVP's health tech innovations, and explore collaboration opportunities. We are excited to apply what we've learned to drive positive change in behavioral health! #CSTE2024 #SAMHSA #BHSIS #MHCLD #MentalHealth #SubstanceMisuse #BehavioralHealth #Epidemiology #DataAnalytics #DataDashboards #HealthTech #HealthResearch #HealthResearchTechnology Lisa Patton, Sandeep Kasat
