  • Summer break can bring a mix of emotions for students with ADHD. The freedom is exciting, but the lack of routine can lead to disorganization, mood swings, and difficulty focusing. This week’s tip is to: Give structure to summer days! Here's how you can help students create structure this summer: –Visual Calendars: Encourage families to use visual calendars for summer camps, programs, and activities. Reviewing it daily helps with anticipation and transitions. –Consistent Routines: Even with varying activities, maintaining consistent wake-up times, mealtimes, and bedtimes provides essential stability. –Scheduled Downtime: Structure doesn't have to mean constant busyness. Help students build in downtime for rest, creative pursuits, or relaxation. These strategies can make a huge difference in helping students enjoy a successful and fulfilling summer. • Ever heard of summer slide? ☀️ Summer slide is the regression in learning students can experience during the summer months. One way to prevent summer slide is through summer reading! Research from Scholastic shows that parents who are aware of summer slide are more likely to encourage summer reading. Check out the chart below and find more helpful insights here: https://lnkd.in/gA-FxKp #SummerSlide #SummerReading

  • Summer break is a time for exploration and growth, but keeping young minds engaged can be a hurdle. This week's tip: Gamify the Learning Process 🎮This approach is particularly effective for students who thrive with interactive learning. Here's how to turn summer into a learning adventure: Quests for Every Tasks: Transform everyday routines into themed challenges. Math drills become "cracking the recipe code," while reading becomes a "literary treasure hunt." Unleash Learning Adventures: Design scavenger hunts or "missions" that integrate desired skills. Explore local parks as "junior naturalists" gathering plant samples, or use a museum trip for "history hero training." Celebrate & Level Up: Implement points or badges to track progress and celebrate achievements. This reinforces positive learning habits! Bonus Tip: Challenge friends and family to join in. Friendly competition can be a great motivator for students of all ages. What are your favorite strategies for keeping students engaged during summer break? Share your thoughts in the comments! #SummerLearning #GamifiedLearning #StudentGrowth

  • We're excited to launch our first ever tip of the week! At Creating Positive Futures, we really enjoy working with parents and referral partners to get students the help they need, whether that be academic, executive function, or ADHD support. Every Wednesday, we’ll share insights, exercises, and information that can help us empower students from all angles. This week's tip: Guide students through collaborative goal-setting to increase ownership and accountability. To get started: 1. Encourage students to identify aspirations related to academics, personal development, or extracurricular activities. 2. Work on making goals specific and measurable. (Is there a grade they want to achieve? A specific skill they want to master?) 3. Break down larger goals into smaller, achievable steps. (What resources will they need? How will they track progress?) When we equip students with effective goal-setting skills, they're better able to clarify expectations and prepare for potential challenges. Try this out with your students, and let us know how it goes!
