An AWS Summit took place in Bengaluru, titled ‘Empowering builders and business to build India for tomorrow’. Musfir Mohammed and Niraj Altekar, IT professionals from ConnectedX participated in the coveted community gathering from 15-16 May 2024 at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel & Convention Center. Here are some insights and reflections from their experience at the event 👇 Cloud solutions have transformed the way digital solutions have been crafted to solve tremendous business problems at a scale unfathomed. Self-driving cars, which were once merely a virtual aspiration, are becoming a competition for chauffeurs of the day. This luxury of serverless scale solutions that seem to be designed for infinite compute power (while it’s not) comes at a cost. While the CTO’s office is well versed and qualified to optimize their solutions for scale, efficacy of experience and resilience, the overall cost overhead still runs on the guestimates and projections that come out of the drawing boards. As we engineer solutions for the IT and manufacturing automotive OEMs across the Americas, Europe and Asia and their Tier 1 partners, we have come across an interesting uptake of server-less solutions and Infra as a Code approach. Leveraging AWS's agile and user-friendly packaging, we architect and implement bespoke solutions to address diverse needs, from K8s to AI and ML requirements, migrations, and performance enhancements. This enables seamless integration of teams, regions, and engineering cultures that were previously siloed. However, navigating the trade-offs between cost and performance is crucial, demanding informed decisions on components, services, and server choices for optimal outcomes. In the landscape of cloud computing, akin to connected cars, CFOs struggle to reconcile engineering estimates with financial realities. Discussions on scalability, resource utilization, and cost effectiveness often yield vague assurances from the technology team. Yet, common cost overruns persist, from overprovisioning to underutilization, echoing challenges faced in the serverless realm. Bridging this gap requires collaborative, data-driven approaches for optimal efficiency. In the automotive industry, just as with cloud computing, there's a significant gap between resource provision and utilization. Research reveals that only a fraction of provisioned CPUs and memory are effectively utilized, leading to potential cost overruns due to biases and delayed insights. Detailed cloud logs and diverse pricing models for resources offer opportunities akin to managing different types of car engines and fuel prices. Implementing AI-driven solutions could optimize resource allocation, potentially slashing costs by up to 40%. #awssummitbengaluru2024 #connectedx #connectedxinc #connectedxtechsol #aws #awsevents
