The results are in, and they confirmed what many in the trade had feared. The 2024 edition of the Spring Wheat and Durum Wheat Tour is in the books and in today's podcast episode, I speak with the Executive Vice-President of the Wheat Quality Council to hear first hand about this year's experience. Producers, traders, and millers worldwide have been waiting to sift through the findings, and now you can learn the surprising details as well. You know the old saying, "Never catch a falling knife?" Translated: picking bottoms in collapsing grain futures markets is extremely risky. HOWEVER, there are some things happening in corn and soybeans right now that are raising a few eyebrows. My colleagues, Justin McKinney and Eric Relph, join me today for a DEEP look at what those things are, why the timing could be important, and what lies ahead - especially with this being an election year. Take off the blinders and watch... if you dare. And, be sure to Like, Subscribe, and Share this video. https://lnkd.in/exZJ8KvR

Today, we travel to the far eastern end of the Corn Belt to visit direct from the field with an old friend and agronomy expert, Ben Hushon, of The Mill in White Hall, Maryland. He shows us in real time how the corn is visibly suffering from a lack of rainfall in that part of the country while it is currently in the critical pollination phase - right when it needs water the most. Yeah, we have some near perfect crops in the heart of the Midwest, but on either end, we are learning of some sobering details about the growing season. You have got to see this report from the field and watch Ben explain why missed pollination opportunities now mean yields will be permanently lost. Be sure to Like, Subscribe, and Share this video. For better or worse, the USDA WASDE report is out, and we had a chance to gauge traders' reaction to the numbers before we closed out the trading week. Wheat was torpedoed by the report while corn got very supportive news, but only mustered modest gains. Why? Eric Relph and I sort out the data for you and set the table for market risks to assess between now and the end of the year. When it comes to agricultural economists, they don't get much bigger than Scott Irwin of the University of Illinois. He joins me on today's episode to share the hard truth about overall profitability potential for corn and soybean farmers in the Midwest this year. High variability and extreme maturity issues in the crops along with relentless selling in the futures markets are making marketing decisions for producers very difficult. How much could all of this ultimately impact farmland and rental values? Watch, then be sure to Like, Subscribe, and Share this video. Please share your commentscas well. Wednesday's ag commodity action was about as exciting as a wet potato chip, as Paul Harvey used to say. Following Beryl and the latest USDA reports, the bulls have apparently headed for the barn and closed the door. Are the grain markets as dire as what the trade seems to indicate? Well, I talked with Joe Camp today about that as we have yet another USDA WASDE report looming over the horizon while we continue to make new long term lows. The old adage says you should never try to catch a falling knife, but what can you do? We finished off a choppy holiday-interrupted week with the grain markets coming back to go higher ahead of the weekend. Did the holiday break have anything to do with it? Join Justin McKinney and myself as we examine the clues that the markets are giving us, and what kind of action producers and traders should be taking as a result. "Alright, USDA! Let's see what you've got!" That seems to be the battle cry of grain commodity futures traders and farmers everywhere as bulls and bears brace for what is typically a big market moving set of reports that will be released this Friday. Add in the end of the week, the end of the month, the end of the quarter, first notice day for July contracts, delayed corn and soybean planting, major flooding, and a major holiday break next week... and you have the makings of a powder keg! Joe Camp joins me to discuss whether USDA will have the intestinal fortitude to factor in these late changing conditions or simply kick the can down the road again, leaving everyone second guessing the numbers. Catch our expectations for one of the most anticipated report days of the year. Be sure to Like, Subscribe, and Share this video.

Following up on our wildly popluar podcast yesterday regarding the massive flooding all across the northwestern half of the Midwest that is being largely overlooked by the national media, my guest today is Mike Dulin of the Kansas City District office of the Army Corp of Engineers overseeing the lower Missouri River watershed. We discuss widespread crop and city flooding isssues, bridge and road closures, levee and farm land threats, transportation issues, and some of the actions being taken to lessen the impact of the millions of acre feet of water that need to escape the upper regions of the basin. Keep in mind that the upper Mississippi River basin is also having to take precautions because the two flood crests will be merging around St. Louis very soon! Is this a repeat of 1993, or is it just a sampler? Watch, Like, Subscribe, and Share this video with others. Thanks again for helping us to become one of the fastest growing ag podcasts anywhere. It's all because of you, and we appreciate it! https://lnkd.in/eBveYA5m
