Are Cyber Threats & Talent Gaps a Growing Crisis? International Monetary Fund's recent study, “Rising Cyber Threats Pose Serious Concerns for Financial Stability,” shows that global cyber threats have doubled recently and outlines $12 billion in losses from 20,000 incidents in the financial sector over 20 years. Meanwhile, there’s a 4 million shortfall in cybersecurity professionals, according to the World Economic Forum and ISC2. This talent gap strains teams, increasing workloads and stress. Bridging the talent gap is crucial for strengthening cyber defenses. As stated in this article from CSO Online, "In the workforce, experience trumps education, and while qualifications are useful, they are no substitute for battle scars." That's why it's crucial for CISOs to rethink skilling strategies. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eYeEujB9

Akira ransomware actors have drastically reduced the time from initial access to data exfiltration, now capable of stealing data in just over two hours. BlackBerry’s Threat Research Team detailed an attack on a Latin American airline, highlighting how threat actors used an unpatched Veeam backup server to swiftly siphon data before deploying ransomware. The rapid pace emphasizes the critical need for strong cybersecurity defenses. Read the Dark Reading article: https://lnkd.in/ea5mgsDi

Data Breach Affects 109M AT&T Customers: Cybercriminals Exploit Security Vulnerabilities While this breach involved third-party cybersecurity, the fault also lies with the human element. Thomas Marsland, Cloud Range VP of Technology, noted in the article, “Companies are not investing enough in their cybersecurity teams – they are understaffed and burnt out, simply because many large companies have realized they can get away with not further reducing that risk, and instead just pay out when the breach occurs.” Read more from IndustryWeek: https://lnkd.in/gMCRZCm4 #Cybersecurity #DataBreach #CloudSecurity
