The Livermore Public Library provides invaluable resources and programs that foster education, literacy, and community engagement for residents of all ages. By offering free access to books, digital media, and various events and other resources, the library enhances lifelong learning and strengthens the social fabric of the community. Our Music and Movement series at the library is one example of programming that serves to benefit our community. This series builds motor and social skills, increasing independence, and boosting language development in children. It also brings a ton of joy! Last week’s session was made extra special by our amazing team: - Daniel, a local high school student who supports storytimes and other library events. - Amber, a summer college intern who’s finishing her Library Science masters degree at San Jose State University and who has an interest in working with youth in the Library when she graduates. - Erica, one of our amazing Livermore Librarians who’s currently one of our primary storytellers. - And special guests — Livermore City Manager Marianna Marysheva and her daughter Mari. During June, seventeen local high school students participated in the City of Livermore's Teen Academy. Spanning from June 14 to July 1, participants immersed themselves in courses covering career exploration, training opportunities, and skill development. The program included a public speaking workshop, a simulated City Council meeting, an information literacy and personal finance session, and more! The final two weeks were dedicated to internships within a City Department of their choice, collaborating with City staff on various projects, sitting in on City meetings, and presenting their recommendations to the Mayor and City staff. Throughout the program, the students demonstrated their dedication to their community and offered valuable insights into the youth perspective of Livermore. We extend our appreciation to all who participated in this enriching experience! #wearelivermore
