Early in my career, I came to Dover with the job of updating C-5 aircraft with new defensive flare systems that protect the aircraft. This was in response to a rapidly changing threat that was adapting to the U.S. military. Nearly 30 years later, the reality of Great Power Competition is that cyber threats can affect entire communities across the nation. That includes our installations. I was honored to return to Dover and commission all-new electric vehicle charging stations. These new charging stations will allow bases to conserve valuable fuel resources, and add modern, cyber-hardened, redundant systems to their operations. We will also be adding independent battery storage capability, which will give us enough time to overcome outages, get maintenance and aircrew to the jets, launch quickly, and into the fight! We must once again adapt to cyberthreats to our infrastructure, as well as fuel constraints potential adversaries might impose on our nation in competition, crisis, or conflict. Hats off to the entire 436th AW for seizing the initiative and making this happen! We can no longer afford to move at the speed of government, we must adapt quickly to changing threats to installations and move at the speed of the threat. Let’s go!
