  • 🎧 New episode alert! In the latest episode of the Money Matters podcast, Wes Moss and Jeff Lloyd share valuable insights on how you might be able to retire sooner and happier. Drawing from lessons learned on the Retire Sooner podcast, they discuss the importance of financial planning, second act careers, and the pursuit of happiness in retirement. Key Takeaways: 1. Use the Millionaire Next Door formula to assess your net worth and determine if you're on track for a comfortable retirement. Multiply your age by your annual household income and divide by ten to see if you're an accumulator of wealth. 2. Embrace new experiences and cultivate a sense of community in retirement. Engage in activities that bring you joy, such as travel, gardening, or attending cultural events. Consider the community when relocating for retirement. 3. Happiness in retirement goes beyond financial security. Pursue a sense of belonging, meaning, and purpose through storytelling, learning new skills, and giving back to others. Adopt a beginner's mindset and explore potential passions. To learn more about retiring sooner and happier, check out the Money Matters podcast and the Retire Sooner podcast. Remember to consult with your own financial advisors before making any investment decisions. #RetireSooner #RetireHappier #MoneyMatters #FinancialPlanning #RetirementGoals

  • The first episode of the Retire Sooner podcast dropped on April 1st, 2021. By then, Wes Moss had already been hosting Money Matters on WSB radio for more than a decade, but he just couldn’t pass up the opportunity for long-form interviews, thoughts, and analysis from the nation’s best and brightest. So, our team set up our microphones and hit record. Our mission was to help a million people retire at least one year sooner, or at least a little earlier than they ever thought possible. Three years into this massive undertaking felt like the right time for reflection, so we compiled a list of five important lessons we've learned thus far. • Our clients, the Longs recently celebrated retirement with a 10-day vacation. They beat the heat with a Railroading the Rockies tour that started in Seattle, then ferried to Victoria BC, and Vancouver hopped the Rockie Mountaineer to Kamloops and Jasper, then shuttled to Banff and Calgary before returning to Atlanta. Please note, the Longs have given us permission to share their photos.

This week, Forbes.com contributor Wes Moss tells us why social connections matter in retirement While financial planning is crucial for retirement, don't overlook the power of social connections. Happy retirees have more close friends than their less happy counterparts. According to an American Perspectives Survey (APS), nearly half of Americans today report having three or fewer close friends. This is a sharp decline from 1990, when only 27% of Americans reported the same. 💡 Research for "What The Happiest Retirees Know" by Wes Moss reveals that retirees with 3-4 close friends are significantly happier. More connections lead to greater happiness, with those having five close friends being four times more likely to be happy. 🔗 Bottom Line: Social connections are vital for a fulfilling retirement. Invest in friendships and social activities to enjoy a happier, more connected life. 🌟🌍 👉 Read the full article on Forbes to learn more: https://hubs.ly/Q02Hvc9t0 #RetirementHappiness #SocialConnections #FinancialPlanning #HappyRetirees #Wellbeing #Community #FriendshipGoals
