Our CEO Sally Werner spoke to HealthWell Foundation about the benefits of patient navigation and how CSC is breaking down barriers to care.
The White House Cancer Moonshot called on the cancer community to improve the experience of people and their families living with and surviving cancer. One key to that improved experience is expanding access to services to help patients and their families navigate health care treatments for cancer and other serious illnesses. For 40 years, Cancer Support Community (CSC) has shared the vision that everyone impacted by cancer receives the support they want and need throughout their experience. Underscored by the belief that community is stronger than cancer, CSC strives to uplift and strengthen people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care. Our VP of Policy and Advocacy, Daneen Sekoni, alongside Partnership for Part D Access, met with Domestic Policy Council staff at the White House to discuss the importance of preserving antineoplastics and antidepressant drugs in the six protected classes to ensure medication access for Medicare beneficiaries diagnosed with cancer. The Protected Classes policy respects the invaluable patient-provider shared decision-making process, that’s essential for all people with cancer, but especially for those who are 65 and older and potentially more vulnerable cancer patients.
