As a leader in the AEC industry—whether a contractor, engineer, architect, entrepreneur, investor, and the list goes on—it's impossible to stay on top of all of the news, announcements, innovations, deals, events (and the list similarly goes on) that impact, for better or worse, the built world and the businesses that support and surround it. Built and curated to serve the AEC industry and its stakeholders, our publicly available newsletters are an effort to bridge that information gap, delivering regular updates on the world of construction. Managing a fleet of construction equipment is time consuming, thought intensive, and expensive. And all of that is amplified exponentially if you're not doing it well. So how do you do it well? The short answer is know-how and the right tools/technology. The long answer is you need experience and a deep knowledge and understanding of both fleet management best practices as well as the tech ecosystem that supports it. Unless you have years to establish those skillsets, the second best bet is to learn from people who already have them. People like Robert Davidsen, fleet technology manager for Ozinga, Brian Mulshine, senior director of maintenance product management for Trimble Transportation, Luke Powers, co-founder and CEO of Gearflow, and Zach Laberge, founder and CEO of frenter, who will all be lead in a discussion by BuiltWorlds Director of Construction Tech Stephen Anderson on a discussion exploring the ideal relationship between effective fleet management and construction project objectives. Attendees will gain insights on how to improve fleet efficiency, reduce downtime, and achieve project success in a constantly evolving construction industry. Some more great takeaways from our 2024 Paris Summit... Here are Nick Gosen’s top takeaways from the summit: ▶ The French hashtag #PropTech/ hashtag #ConTech ecosystem is robust, with significant collaboration among major corporates like Saint-Gobain, Leonard / VINCI, and Bouygues Immobilier Partenaires. ▶ BuiltWorlds successfully gathered a diverse and influential group of stakeholders, including corporates, startups, investors, and venture builders, making for a highly valuable networking experience. ▶ Despite tech advancements, we are still building much like decades ago. Digital solution adoption is slower in construction compared to manufacturing. However, construction companies are stepping up, and customers are starting to demand these innovations.

Technology can't make a construction jobsite totally safe. But it can make it a safer place. And safer is better than not. Such is the focus of the Site Safety Technology category of our Smart Jobsites Top 50, which draws from user surveys, industry research, case studies, and member conversations and feedback to determine what are the top site safety, workforce management and site management technology solutions being used in the field today. Among the technologies recognized for their impact on jobsite safety are solutions that can better inform and equip safety professionals; streamline workflows and logistics for less confusion and mistakes; improve the accessibility of safety documentation and resources; and leverage AI to find opportunities to improve safety that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. And that's just scratching the surface. Westerly Winds is a venture investment firm, founded by Karim Abdel-Ghaffar Plaza and Edward van Cutsem, that's taking a unique approach to multi-stage VC by supporting later-stage companies beyond "just capital." And in a recent post, we dug into just what exactly that means. BuiltWorlds Research Analyst Cameron Mabley, who focuses on the venture side of the global AEC industry, writes, "The fund invests at the intersection of VC and growth equity, typically looking to participate at the Series A and B stages, hold board seats and equip founders with the tools to prepare for a meaningful exit." Mabley walks readers through the intricacies of Westerly Winds' multi-stage VC strategy, including how it diverges from typical strategies and where the value is in committing to such a novel approach, providing additional insights directly from the founders themselves. “There’s no substitute for committing time to a business. Sitting on 20 or 30 boards is different than sitting on three or four boards,” says Plaza. “The amount of time you can dedicate to each company really conditions how knowledgeable you become in the inner workings of a business and therefore how helpful you might be as a company evolves.” Check out the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gnCuNSqY

In the lead up to our Construction Tech Conference, it's easy to get wrapped up in all the exciting innovators, thought leaders, and entrepreneurs that are going to be on stage and in the crowd. It's easy to get wrapped up in the conversations to be had and connections to be made. And of course we encourage getting wrapped up in those things, because they're worth the excitement. But we'd be remiss if we didn't take the time to recognize and give credit to the generous companies giving us the support necessary to get those top minds and big names on stage, and to reach as many in the global AEC community as we're able. We're referring, of course, to our sponsors. Premier SmartPM Technologies, Inc. Gold BIG COMPASS by Bespoke Metrics Inc. It’s a wrap!! It was four intensive days at the 2024 Paris Summit from BuiltWorlds, a foremost gathering of innovation leaders in construction and infrastructure. The Summit undoubtedly surpassed all our expectations. We visited the ‘La Fabrique du métro’ where we got to know the details behind the Le Grand Paris Express at the first day, followed by several insightful talks and conversations along these four days. Challenges within our industry sector are fairly common amongst industry stakeholders with Sustainability, Productivity, Green Buildings and the Future of Construction as the most mentioned ones. Innovation will allow us to find new solutions for these challenges, with AI, Drones, Robotics, Automation, Circular and Green Materials at the core of some of those innovations. It is a pleasure to be part of Builtworlds, which is doing an incredible job in connecting industry players, with more than 2,000 members from 300 companies in 23 countries, including technology players, investors, and leading companies in the sector. A special thanks to their team who welcomed us so warmly Matthew Gray, Colin Yording, Sean Wrenn and James F. McClister. We are excited to keep learning and working together to bring solutions and value to Mota-Engil and the industry. Together, we are committed to building a more sustainable and promising future for everyone. Let’s build a brighter world! BuiltWorlds will be back in Paris/Europe in 2025! Let's go!

On June 30, 2014, we launched BuiltWorlds with this simple blog post: "A New Community For Thinking Big" about transformation in the Built Environment - https://lnkd.in/gMDdZAth. Last week, at our Paris Summit we hosted delegates from 20+ countries, the world's biggest organizations, billions of dollars of committed investment capital, and an array of tech companies offering ever deeper and more sophisticated solutions. The global BuiltWorlds community is now firmly established, and it is growing at a quickening pace in all possible directions. The vision of "big change" in the industry is clearly now much closer at hand. So please mark calendars for next June's Paris Summit, but also look for much more from BuiltWorlds Europe and beyond, as we continue our mission to build and to serve the BuiltWorlds community of the industry's "big thinkers" and to help them translate those thoughts to action. Deepest thanks to all our friends at VINCI, Saint-Gobain, Bouygues Construction, Blackhorn Ventures, WakeCap, Saudi Ministry of Investment, Cemex Ventures, and Contech France for helping us produce a memorable and important event. #openinnovation, #BWParisSummit2025!
