Teens Shine in iCreate at the Bruce Museum By Greenwich Sentinel Now in its sixteenth year, iCreate serves as an outlet for emerging artists, amplifying the scope of their work and providing the community a glimpse into regional artistic potential. iCreate is a regional competition consisting of selected works in the Bruce Museum’s Vicki Netter Fitzgerald Gallery. iCreate inspires young minds to embrace their unique styles and engage with other artists in their age group. The amount of confidence that emerges in selected young artists and the attention all participants receive is precious. One of the most anticipated aspects of the iCreate program is the People’s Choice Award, a $250 prize determined entirely by public vote. The museum encourages the community to participate by viewing the iCreate 2024 presentation video on its website, where all the featured artworks are displayed. Visitors can then vote for their favorite work of art, online or in person. #highschoolart #NY #CT #NJ #youth #GreenwichCT #BruceMuseum https://lnkd.in/dPC_EpSH

Thousands of dead insects line the walls of three progressively darkening rooms at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich. In the last room, animals preserved through taxidermy gather around a dinner table set with candles. The museum aims to use the exhibit to send a message: time is running out. The critters are part of one of the museum's newest exhibitions, "The Golden Hour," which is running through Sept. 8. The exhibition, which is composed of three rooms in the museum, aims to raise awareness of the dangers that climate change and deforestation pose to animals by depicting them in a new light, according to Bruce Museum Curator of Science Dr. Daniel T. Ksepka. #BruceMuseum #TheGoldenHour #ClimateChange #Deforestation #InsectExhibition #JenniferAngus #PreservedInsects #TaxidermyArt #ArtExhibit #EnvironmentalAwareness #NatureArt #SustainableFuture #MuseumExhibition #ArtAndScience #ClimateAction #NatureConservation #ArtForChange #InsectConservation #UniqueExhibit https://bit.ly/45TJEPS

The World’s Largest Bronze Gorilla Sculpture Takes Up Residence at The Bruce Museum–'King Nyani’ raises awareness of endangered species GREENWICH, Conn. — Visitors to the Bruce Museum can now encounter a nearly 5,000-pound, 23-foot-long and 8.5-foot-tall reclining gorilla. “King Nyani” (Swahili for gorilla), the world’s largest bronze gorilla sculpture, offers visitors a unique interactive experience and raises awareness of the endangered species. Renowned public artists Gillie and Marc Schattner found inspiration for “King Nyani” on a trip to Uganda. During their visit, they were captivated by a male silverback gorilla’s kindness and compassion with his family. They vowed to rewrite the narrative of the violent, terrifying ape often conveyed in movies and acquaint people with the softer, gentler nature of the magnificent beasts. #KingNyani #sculpture @gillieandmarcart #publicart #Museums #bronze https://lnkd.in/dbbAvAVg
