The Project Pipeline Summer Camp introduces students to real clients and real project sites, giving them a chance to develop plans for a site in their community. We are so proud of the students for their hard work and appreciate the 7GAE team members who dedicated time and expertise to the Kalamazoo Camp last week. #BuildingTheNextGeneration #CareerExploration #Architecture #Engineering #Construction #AECcareers #Michigan
7GAE team members volunteered last week with NOMA Detroit and had a great time with students at this year’s Project Pipeline Kalamazoo Camp. Working with local real estate developer and former WMU running back Jamauri Bogan from Bogan Developments, students got to study social equity, focusing on a local development site. They created project plans for the site that included low-income and workforce housing, mixed-use commercial, YWCA spaces and community gardens, paying attention to cultural, social and environmental responsibility. Students then presented their projects to judges Michael Flynn, Director of Architecture at Abonmarche Kalamazoo, Twala Lockett-Jones from Lockett-Jones Realty Group, and Alexandra Benitez, Project Manager at MANN+HUMMEL. From Nadine Nicole Rios-Rivas, “A huge thank you to our judges and to Western Michigan University for hosting us! Kim and Dustin are amazing and care about these students’ futures. They offered students a chance to shadow university classes for those interested in learning more about interior design.” #BuildingTheNextGeneration #CareerExploration #Architecture #Engineering #Construction #AECcareers #Michigan
