At Blue Ridge Partners, we focus exclusively on helping companies accelerate profitable revenue growth. We have earned high marks from private equity firms by delivering material, rapid and cost-effective results for them and their portfolio companies. We selected this area of specialization because revenue growth is the #1 driver of value creation—58% of all value creation comes from revenue growth. In accelerating growth, we consider strategic growth options such as entering new end markets, expanding geographically, and adding new products and services. We also help strengthen company execution by enhancing sales force effectiveness, optimizing channel performance, improving marketing programs, optimizing pricing, and strengthening sales and marketing leadership skills. Most of our senior leaders come from large strategy consulting firms, but they have also led businesses. These combined experiences yield a natural focus on strategic issues in complex markets, with a highly pragmatic approach and a focus on implementation. We work with Fortune 500, middle market companies and private equity firms and their portfolio companies to analyze their revenue engine performance, identify opportunities for improvement and then work side by side with our clients to implement action plans that drive incremental revenues and the margins associated with those revenues. Since 2002, our firm has worked with over 1,000 companies in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia/Pacific.     We recently surveyed operating partners and investment partners regarding the challenges facing their portfolio companies and how these challenges are impacting the size, shape and structure of their Value Creation Teams in 2024. We presented the findings, last month, at the keynote session of PEI Operating Partners Forum Europe, for which Blue Ridge Partners is the long-standing Knowledge Partner. Here are some of the key takeaways from the research and discussion: KEY OPERATIONAL HURDLES: Accelerating organic revenue growth emerged as the top operating challenge over the coming 12 months. Other critical areas include optimizing pricing strategies, enhancing financial efficiency, and upgrading talent within the organization. STRATEGIC TEAM INTEGRATION: There is a strong consensus on the necessity for value creation teams to be more structurally integrated with deal teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and enhanced overall performance. CONTRASTING PARTNER PRIORITIES: There are marked differences of perspective between investment and operating partners. Investment partners place significantly more emphasis on supply chains, cash flow management, and cost control. They also stress the importance of value creation teams having stronger specialist skills in areas such as commercial effectiveness. It will be moderated by Moti Shahani, a Managing Director of Blue Ridge Partners, based in London and serving PE firms and their portfolio companies across Europe. Moti has more than 25 years’ experience of driving value-creating growth. Before joining Blue Ridge Partners, he was with McKinsey & Company, founded one of the UK’s earliest digital marketing consultancies, served as a strategy Vice President with American Express dealing with all non-US markets and consulted independently on growth to a large number of UK and global clients. The panellists are: 🌟 Melis Kahya is a Managing Director at General Atlantic and leads the firm’s Consumer investments across EMEA, in addition to focusing on investments in Turkey. Before joining General Atlantic in New York in 2015, Melis was a Vice President at TSG Consumer Partners where she focused on investments in the Retail and Consumer sectors.   🌟 Jerome Losson joined BC Partners in 2012. He is a Partner and Co-Head of Portfolio Operations for Private Equity based in London. Previously, Jérôme worked at KKR Capstone, the Operations team of KKR. Between 2014 and 2015, Bjorn was based in KKR Capstone’s New York office. 🌟 Kees Wesdorp is a Managing Director at Hellman & Friedman, which he joined in 2023.
