IT WON’T RAIN FOREVER. This is the story of Jayden St Paul a goalkeeper who played at Norwich City Football Club. Our brother sat down with us to share his story, his struggles with mental health due to his knee injury, and having to come to grips with the fact that his dream of being a professional footballer is coming to an end. After battling for two years, at the age of only 20, Jayden has been forced to retire. The fame, glory and money in football often captures all the headlines, but like Jayden, footballers at all levels fight mental and physical battles, often silently. Talking about his struggles not only helped him come to peace with his decision, but his hope is that it will help other players feel comfortable opening up as well. We thank him for allowing us to help share his story, and please send your love and support to Jayden as he embarks on his next chapter. Brought to you in collaboration with GRASSROOTS AND BEYOND (GRAB)

English Premier League x Black Arrow (FC) Produced by the English Premier League and going out to the league broadcasters globally, the 26-minute documentary will run on NBC Sports in the United States and Amazon in the UK. The film examines the various ways in which black Americans have influenced the league, from players to fans to businessmen, under the direction of Aaron Dolores, the founder of Black Arrow FC, as well as the part Black Arrow has played in igniting the larger cultural movement. The film features US National Team legends Tim Howard and Jozy Altidore, as well as current USMNT star Chris Richards, playing at Crystal Palace. NBA Legends Dominique Wilkins, who became an avid soccer fan from his days playing basketball in Europe, and current Miami Heat player Josh Richardson, who fell in love with the sport by playing the video game EA FIFA,.

Founded by Aaron Dolores, Black Arrow (FC) is a unique platform focusing on the intersection of football and Black culture in the USA. 🖤⚽️🇺🇸 I've long had a fascination with the relationship between the African American community and the game I love so much. When I was 19 I spent a year coaching "soccer" in the USA. Not only was I the only Black coach out of hundreds of coaches, but I very rarely came across any Black players at any level. Coming from a place where football thrives in the Black community, this was a huge eye opener for me. The participation in American soccer by the Black community has been limited for a long time and there are a number of contributing factors. There are often barriers to entry with the "pay-to-play" model, the game is not deemed as a "cool" sport by many (I found this out first hand), and of course the huge popularity of sports like Basketball and American Football. So when I met Aaron, and understood his journey as an African American soccer fan and his mission to represent his community in the sports narrative, I was hugely excited to work with him. There are 45 million African Americans in the USA and the vast majority are not (yet) fans of the beautiful game. What if the content that was produced was representative of Black culture in the USA? What if Black soccer stories were elevated and positioned to connect with an African American audience. An audience that over indexes on entertainment spending and a community that are cultural trendsetters and tastemakers! The opportunity for growth for the sport in the African American community is huge and Black Arrow FC are spearheading the Black soccer movement in the U.S. A cultural and strategic agency, Black Arrow FC helps teams, leagues and brands reach and create Black Soccer fans. In the first of a number of projects we are working on, we've teamed up with talented producer at Premier League Productions; Carl Adejobi on a documentary called “Kicks and Culture Stateside”. Aaron goes on a journey around the U.S, visiting fans, players and personalities to explore the intersection of Black culture and the beautiful game. We meet Black soccer legends Jozy Altidore and Tim Howard, USA national team and Crystal Palace defender Chris Richards, NBA legend Dominique Wilkins and current Miami Heat baller and WME client, Josh Richardson. We go to Atlanta where Black soccer is thriving and to Alabama where grass roots coaches are working to make the game more accessible for everyone. We’re delighted with the support from the Premier League and the global networks and from Weds 28th February you’ll be able to watch the doc around the world on NBC Sports, Sky Sports, TNT, Amazon and more. 🖤⚽️🇺🇸 #football #footballbusiness #blacksoccer #blacksoccermovement #blackarrowfc #americansoccer

Becoming a professional footballer is hard enough. Becoming a professional artist is even harder. Charlie Rugg, was fortunate enough to have a successful professional career where he played in Germany and for the LA Galaxy. After his retirement, he began exploring his artistic talents, and has since been able to make a career out of it. During his playing career, Charlie thought that his two passions could not co-exist, but looking back he has realized how having another outlet could have helped his career on the field and life off of it. Having now settled into the artistic space, he has used his experiences to become a mentor for younger players, encouraging them to explore their passions as off the field, during their careers, in order to help the transition to life after soccer.

This has been a big year in the NWSL, with record breaking attendances and viewership. It follows the trend that has been seen throughout women’s soccer where the sport has been given more attention and rightfully so. Looking within our own nation, Black players have been big reasons why this growth exists within the sport. We highlight some of the ways they have impacted the women’s game and are helping to grow it. 1️⃣ Representation on and off the field: The NWSL has a huge cohort of Black players many of which are impact players for their squads. They have brought incredible diversity to the NWSL, with players coming from Nigeria, Jamaica, and of course the United States. They are inspiring young girls from all backgrounds to dream big and players like Sydney Leroux, Jasmyne Spencer and Midge Purce prove that no matter where you come from, the beautiful game is for everyone. 2️⃣ Grassroots Support: Many players make it a point to give back to their community and not limit their impact to just on the field. Their level of community involvement is even higher than in the men’s game. Organizations like the Black Women’s Player Collective are changing the game for black women, which in turn can change the world. Coaches like Meg Morris are nurturing talent and creating opportunities for young Black girls. 3️⃣ Advocacy for Equity: Black women are the rock of the Black community and they bring that energy to the women’s game being advocates for equity not just in their sport but society as a whole. Their efforts highlight the importance of equal pay, representation in leadership roles, and dismantling barriers that hinder progress. The women’s game is taking over, and the Black players are leading the way.
