Happy National Disability Independence Day! Every year on July 26th, we celebrate the transformative impact that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has had since its passage in 1990. The ADA has profoundly reshaped accessibility and equality, leading to numerous improvements in employment, public services, and infrastructure. At BETA, we take pride in contributing to this legacy through our commitment to designing accessible environments. Our projects are a testament to how thoughtful engineering, planning, and design can create more inclusive communities. One example is our ADA Sidewalk Compliance project in Hartford, CT. Our team is developing construction plans for the installation of new sidewalk ramps that meet national accessibility standards at intersections across the City. Happy Rural Road Safety Awareness Week! This year’s theme is “Life Between the Lines: Preventing Rural Roadway Departures” and it emphasizes the National Center for Rural Road Safety’s goal of zero fatalities and serious injuries on American roadways. While it’s important to encourage safe driving habits, our team of engineers and planners recognizes that cost-effective safety countermeasures can also be implemented on rural roads to help prevent serious accidents. BETA was one of the first firms to conduct Road Safety Audits (#RSAs) for the State of Massachusetts, examining existing and future roads and intersections for potential safety issues and opportunities for improvement.
