Back in December, Mrs. Jan’s name was entered into The Fish Christmas Wish, and she was chosen by Beaver Toyota to have her wish granted. Mrs. Jan was diagnosed with breast cancer, and while doctors were testing to see if it had spread, they discovered she also had brain cancer. The first time we called Mrs. Jan to tell her she was chosen for the Fish Christmas Wish, she hung up on us. After waiting about 10-15 minutes, we called her back and had to convince her that a friend had entered her name into the drawing. When we asked her what she wanted most for Christmas, Jan had the most selfless Christmas wish, to have her husband’s teeth fixed. Her husband had stood by her through everything, providing unwavering support, and she just wanted to see him smile again. Mrs. Jan explained that they couldn’t afford the dental work due to their financial situation, which was strained by her cancer and hospital bills. Our Collision Center team took it upon themselves to find a way to grant this wish for Jan and her husband, Mark. One of our team members spoke to our dentist, Dr. Grady at Grady’s Dental Care in Cumming, during a regular cleaning appointment. Dr. Grady agreed to fix Mr. Mark’s teeth at no cost to this beautiful family, simply wanting to help make this Christmas Wish come true. We were incredibly grateful and excited for Mrs. Jan! In addition to arranging for Jan’s husband’s dental work, we also provided a gift card to cover their car note for two months, a Walmart gift card for groceries and toiletries, and some cash for any additional needs. About six months later, the dental work turned out to be more extensive than expected. They ended up giving Jan’s husband a brand new set of teeth! As of last week, the work is complete. To Jan and Mark, you both are amazing human beings, and we are so happy we could help your husband get his smile back! Beaver Toyota had our annual charity golf tournament last week and it was even bigger and better than the year before. Making a difference starts with having the heart to do so, then it takes action. We couldn't be more proud of our dealership, our partners and our community for coming together as one to do our part for 5 amazing charities. We raised over $130,000 to be split between these 5 charities: - Camp Twin Lakes Super special camp that allows children with all sorts of disabilities and disadvantages go to camp with a bunch of kids just like them and get to feel like just a regular kid! They have nurses and support staff on campus to make sure these kids stay safe and have a great time! -MentorMe North Georgia This amazing program empowers youth to be all they can be! They provide one on one mentoring for children. This program allows these kids to truly be themselves and receive the guidance they need to become successful adults. - B.A.D.G.E Provides assistance and support for the men and women of the Forsyth County Sheriffs Office. Made up of local citizens, business leaders, and supports of law enforcement throughout the community. -Jesse's House This organization helps adolescent girls who are exposed to abuse and neglect have a safe haven. Jesse’s house supports these girls with shelter, clothing, medical needs, educational tutoring and psychological help. -Bald Ridge Lodge Their mission is to provide a safe and stable environment for young men. They help nurture these youth and strengthen healthy relationships. They help aid these young men’s transition into adulthood and provide a safe haven to do so. Each of these organizations support our community and especially our youth in very different and special ways. We are so thrilled to be able to help them in their missions to keep our children safe, loved and thriving! Thank you to everyone who participated in this years event and we cannot wait for next year!
