Get to know a Ballmer Group grantee: National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) directly addresses systemic inequities impacting children, youth, and young adults most affected by racial and economic injustice and structural oppression across California. Some of their work includes NCYL’s Compassionate Education Systems demonstration projects, which transform how schools and districts support and respond to students who are experiencing homelessness, are on probation, or are in the child welfare system, with thousands of students, teachers, school staff, and administrators being reached. NCYL also plans to launch an Early Childhood Mental Health project in California to educate, empower, and activate parents and caregivers of young children in advancing community-driven policy solutions. https://youthlaw.org/

We are excited to announce that Ballmer Group Philanthropy President Terri Ludwig has joined the Bipartisan Policy Center's board of directors. Even in fraught political times, we have seen Americans come together around good policies developed with bipartisan strategy and buy-in. From childcare to education to public safety, budget, and beyond, the next Congress will grapple with key issues that shape economic mobility in the U.S. We are proud to have Terri share her expertise with BPC.
Throughout my career, I have seen the transformative power of collaboration in addressing systemic inequities and expanding economic opportunities. That is why I’m honored to join Bipartisan Policy Center's Board of Directors. BPC’s commitment to pragmatic, bipartisan policymaking aligns with my belief that lasting solutions come from working together across differences. I am excited to bring my experience in the private and philanthropic sectors and community development to this esteemed organization. I believe we can tackle tough issues (especially those that affect economic mobility in the U.S.—our focus at Ballmer Group) through a bipartisan lens. https://lnkd.in/gtdHeP28

Check out this impact update from Ballmer Group grantee Partnership for Los Angeles Schools! Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is one of the largest in-district public school transformation organizations in the U.S. It manages 20 LA Unified schools. The Partnership builds the capacity of school leaders, teachers, families, and community partners to enable long-term progress and student achievement. Before the pandemic, The Partnership was making significant progress in closing English Language Arts (ELA) and math proficiency gaps across its school network. However, the pandemic had disproportionate impacts on student outcomes across all Partnership schools. The Partnership's college acceptance rate has now been restored to pre-pandemic levels. Furthermore, the Partnership's advocacy efforts have resulted in LAUSD investing more than $1.6 billion in its highest-need schools (via the Student Equity Needs Index / SENI), increasing at-home access to broadband for its students, and scaling its pilot math curriculum program districtwide. https://partnershipla.org/

Are you an organization working with young adults? FAFSA completion is low this year due to challenges in rolling out the updated form. You can use this social media toolkit to encourage young people to fill out the FAFSA. It's especially important to note that 1. It is not too late for students to complete the form and get the money they deserve; 2. Most people who complete the form get some money to help pay for college; 3. More people than ever qualify for financial aid; and 4. The form is simpler, is now working, and takes as little as 10 minutes to fill out. Please share with youth and encourage them to #DoTheFAFSA! https://lnkd.in/gDW2VaMv
