There were so many key takeaways to ensure that we can meet the mission of CMS "to ensure that the voices and needs of the populations we represent are present as the agency is developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and policies." #humancentereddesign #bestpractices

Throughout July, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of Minority Health (CMS OMH) celebrates Disability Pride Month and the anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA). Enacted on July 26, 1990, the ADA prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities based on race, color, sex, national origin, age, and religion, and guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else. Avar Consulting recognizes the importance of working together to help address these barriers and disparities impacting individuals living with disabilities. The anniversary of the ADA serves as an important reminder to reaffirm our dedication to ensuring people with disabilities have access to quality healthcare services and allows us to share valuable resources to support and empower individuals with disabilities. #disabilitypride

Many thanks to the folks at CMS for putting on a fantastic second Health Equity Conference this past week at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Bethesda, Maryland. It was great to see many familiar faces in the audience and on stage, and to learn more about the outstanding work being done across agencies and organizations to reduce health disparities. It was both an encouraging and motivating event, with so many takeaways and nuggets of wisdom to be applied in our future work. #healthequity

During this National Nurses Week, we would like to recognize Avar's outstanding nurses for their role in our patient safety surveillance and performance audits, as well as all other nurses for their service and dedication to caring for others and improving the health of patients everywhere. Nursing is a profession that requires more than just time and knowledge. Nursing requires heart, passion, and a dedication to serving others.
