Over one billion people worldwide have disabilities - including physical, sensory, psychiatric, and neurodivergent ones. Disability Pride Month is celebrated in July to honor the achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disability community. People with disabilities deserve to live full, self-determined lives, just like everyone else. Look past the disability and see the person in front of you. Two of our Atom Power teammates were open to sharing their own personal stories here to help drive awareness and consideration. Thank you Sahiba and Tony! ===== “If people don’t know about my disability, they often get annoyed when I ask them to repeat things. One of the most helpful things for me is when people are patient with me.” Sahiba Gibson is a Financial Planning & Analysis Manager at Atom Power. Sahiba has hearing loss, often referred to as a “hidden disability”. These types of disabilities can be frustrating for the person with the disability and for those around them who are unaware. Sahiba has genetic hearing loss and has been wearing hearing aids for the last 8 years. For years prior, she was adamant that she could hear “just fine” until she went to an audiologist and was diagnosed with moderate to severe hearing loss and fitted for hearing aids. For the first several months, she was surprised by all the little things that made noise (e.g. typing, pen clicking, the beeping at crosswalks). It literally opened her up to new experiences, but she still has hearing loss even when using the hearing aids. Being understanding and patient with people with disabilities is so important. When meeting someone for the first time, be mindful that they could have some type of hidden disability. And once you are aware of their disability, be considerate in how to best interact with them. ===== “I am a husband, a father, a brother, a son, a colleague, a friend, a mentor, nationally ranked adaptive golfer, adaptive golf coach and an advocate. I am more than just my disability.” Anthony McMillian is proud to be a Senior Commodity Manager at Atom Power. Tony is also a below the knee bi-lateral amputee. He became a bi-lateral amputee in December 2018 after a car accident and undergoing a lengthy hospital stay followed by months of recovery. This was an extremely challenging part of his life, but he says it made him stronger. Most people with visible disabilities do not integrate into society well because of uncomfortable feelings for themselves and those around them. Tony prefers people to do the following: 1. Ask respectfully about his disability. Remember because you ask, does not mean he is obligated to share. 2. Understand that the only thing that is different about him is that he uses tools to walk. His mind and spirit are still strong. His will to compete in business and his personal life is stronger today as it has been. 3. Be kind. He is a human being with all of the same issues and struggles. #DisabilityPrideMonth #BeKind #BeConsiderate

    President & CEO

I was honored and excited to join Atom Power as the President and CEO. The world of electrification is full of exciting opportunities, but it's also complex and rapidly evolving. Today, our patented solid-state circuit breaker technology reliably, safely, and intelligently electrifies EV charging and other applications in the industrial sector. Tomorrow, our vision is that our next-generation solid-state circuit breakers will efficiently regulate power distribution across buildings, homes, factories, and data centers, ensuring enhanced safety, reliability, and energy efficiency unparalleled by traditional circuit breaker technologies. Over the past several months, I've: → Immersed myself in learning even more about electrification and our groundbreaking technology, the Atom Switch™ solid-state circuit breaker → Connected with our incredible team to better understand and begin to mold our unique culture and vision → Worked to develop and implement strategies to navigate the opportunities and challenges any company, especially startups, face in this dynamic industry Through it all, one thing has become crystal clear: The key to success lies in embracing innovation, fostering collaboration, and staying true to our purpose while continuing to evolve and optimize. At Atom Power, we're not just building EV chargers; we're revolutionizing the way energy is consumed, managed, and commercialized. We've already made significant strides in EV charging: → Delivering more than 1GWh of energy with >99% uptime to our customers → Deploying our solutions with major clients like PepsiCo, L.A. Live, and soon, the City of Charlotte → Receiving FedRAMP™ authorization - only the third EVSE company to do so, further demonstrating our industry-leading cybersecurity standards → Providing unparalleled energy management services But we're just getting started... I'm working on building a LinkedIn community for leaders who are passionate about driving the future of energy and energy management that is intelligent, reliable, and safe. I'll be sharing a lot more about industry trends, my own insights, and how we are trying to help shape a more sustainable, electrified future. Lastly... I'd love to know what excites you most about the future of electrification and connected energy? #Electrification #ConnectedEnergy #EnergyManagement #SolidStateCircuitBreaker #EVcharging #Sustainability

Today is Global Energy Independence Day which is meant to promote awareness for forms of energy like solar, wind, and geothermal. July 10 is also the birthday of Nikola Tesla, who was born in 1856. Tesla made many breakthroughs in the area of electric power⚡ and his inventions helped pave the way to discover other forms of energy. Did You Know❔   ➡ Renewable Energy: Solar inverters and wind turbines often require rapid fault response to protect both the equipment and the grid. ➡ Data Centers: Protecting critical, costly infrastructure in data centers from electrical faults is crucial for maintaining uptime and data integrity. ➡ Industrial: Automated machinery and robotic systems rely on fast switching to maintain operational precision and safety. ➡ EVs: EV charging stations and onboard electronics benefit from quick protection mechanisms to ensure safe and reliable operation. In the context of electrical engineering, the term "significantly faster opening times" refers to the speed at which a device can interrupt the flow of electricity in a circuit. This is a crucial characteristic in many applications, especially where protection, visibility, efficiency, and control of equipment are critical. Did You Also Know ❔ ➡ Atom Power designed the world’s first solid-state circuit breaker. Our patented technology has no moving parts, leading to significantly faster switching times. The opening times are in the microsecond (µs) range, which is orders of magnitude faster than mechanical devices.
