On June 11, ACC St. Louis Chapter members volunteered their legal expertise at the second Veterans Estate Planning Clinic of the year. Our mission was to provide free legal counsel to veterans and their spouses, ensuring our nation’s heroes receive the support they deserve. 🦅 With the dedication of eight chapter members, we assisted 19 veterans and their spouses, drafting 15 wills, 13 advanced directives, 13 healthcare POAs, 15 general POAs, and 9 beneficiary deeds. This event was as successful as the initial March 19th clinic. Essica Zink, Senior Managing Counsel at Express Scripts, Inc. and 2024 ACC STL Pro Bono Committee Chairperson, thanked Donte Tamprateep, Associate General Counsel at Anheuser-Busch, for coordinating the event, and Scotty Allen, Missouri Veterans Commission (MVC) General Counsel, for his involvement and help in building a long-term partnership with the Chapter. Scotty shared that this is the eleventh Estate Planning Clinic staffed by Chapter members since 2019, resulting in the execution of 901 documents for 251 clients, saving an estimated $450,500 in pro bono services. The MVC 2023 Annual Report highlights the impact statewide: ▪️ 799 Wills ▪️ 702 Advanced Directives ▪️ 789 Healthcare POAs ▪️ 751 General POAs ▪️ $1,675,500 – Estimated savings of in-kind services for Missouri veterans Our efforts at the Veterans Estate Planning Clinic are a testament to the power of community and the importance of giving back. We had the pleasure of hosting a fantastic breakfast panel on the intersection of intellectual property and generative AI on Tuesday for the ACC St. Louis - Association of Corporate Counsel. The discussion focused on trends and questions surrounding #AI use when it comes to #IP rights, featuring TC attorneys Matt Braunel, Michael Parks and Alex Weidner and Noah Webster from Everbridge.
