You may have seen that the CA Supreme Court issued a ruling today, unfortunately rejecting a worker-led challenge to Prop 22 and instead inviting the legislature to respond and expand labor protections for contractors as needed. While I am disappointed in today’s CA Supreme Court decision, we at the Asian Law Caucus are unwavering in our commitment that all workers, regardless of classification or status are entitled to basic workplace rights and protections. Whether you are a restaurant worker, lawyer, rideshare driver, or healthcare worker, you should be able to make a living wage, get paid sick leave, workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, have a safe workplace, and be treated with dignity and respect. We’re proud to be lawyers for rideshare drivers across California, including in several seminal, pending cases defending their right to basic workplace health and safety protections.
